Interesting or not? This is a code lens showing a function type inferred by #ElixirLang compiler via Expert (just experimenting, not yet a thing).

As the year 2026 is coming to an end, some problems in computer science – such as correctly rendering non-ASCII characters in an auto-generated PDF – are still unsolved.

What I really like in Iceraven and other Firefox-based mobile browsers is that it allows me to choose every time whether to open a link in an app or stay in the browser. Is there any chromium-based that does this?

Parking reservation system for the largest airport in Poland crapped out because of no disk space left for the database. And of course there is a stacktrace in production! But also, there a link to... create a JIRA ticket? Doesn't work unfortunately.

TIL (well, YIL, to be precise) that @ in #ElixirLang is just a macro in Kernel module, so you can do this. Makes sense in retrospect, but I never thought about that before.
Code snippet:

defmodule Test do
  Kernel.@(foo 42)

  def call do
    IO.puts @foo
  end
end

Test.call()

Well, it would be kinda hard to come up with a recognizable "logo of Europe", I think. But anyway, I found that Switzerland is a special exception so you were right.

Since I wasn't really following this, I read up some context for this (previous HN annoncements, who acquired Bun etc.) and, boy, we live in strange times. I think this comment from Reddit sums it up pretty accurately.

Can anyone explain to me why someone came up with this and thought "yeah, this is a good idea, let's ship it"? (this is from cmd.exe help)
If /C or /K is specified, then the remainder of the command line after
the switch is processed as a command line, where the following logic is
used to process quote (") characters:

    1. If all of the following conditions are met, then quote characters
        on the command line are preserved:

        - no /S switch
        - exactly two quote characters
        - no special characters between the two quote characters,
          where special is one of: &<>()@^|
        - there are one or more whitespace characters between the
          two quote characters
        - the string between the two quote characters is the name
          of an executable file.

    2. Otherwise, old behavior is to see if the first character is
        a quote character and if so, strip the leading character and
        remove the last quote character on the command line, preserving
        any text after the last quote character.
