This is legitimately one of the more amazing things I've seen. One of the biggest kites ever made.
A shot down and across a stretch of beach. There is a football field sized kite of a trilobite getting off the ground.

In the weeks after 9/11 I made a "genetic black box" containing my hair, nails, and baby teeth. I gave it to my mom for Christmas so she would never have to worry about IDing me in a terrorist attack. She slapped me for it because she thought I was being insincere. I was dead serious.

Sometimes you're in your art studio, painting on pearls as you drink tea, and you drop one into the cup. Not as bad as drinking the paint water, but close. 🫣
A hand holding a spoon against the rim of a tea cup. On the spoon is wilted mint and a single large pearl with a portrait of Girl With A Pearl Earring painted on it. It's wet and looks like it's been fished out of the cup.

I've kinda gone back and forth with who/what comes next. But since a lot of 2027 residency/fellowship/grant applications are coming due, I'm finally commiting -- it's going to be Van Eyck, the jewels of the Ghent Altarpiece, historical pigments, and blazing one's own path.

I moved to the Netherlands in 2022 and thrifting is my partner's family's love language. It's nice, my family back home is like that too, but I haven't really found the Dutch thing I'm called to collect yet. I've just kinda been continuing the American collections while here. That is, until today...

Also, the building is one of my favorites in the Netherlands. People sleep on this country's modern architecture. It's superb.

I believe this is the world's only art depot that's been turned into its own freestanding museum attraction. This was from our ten minute tour of the hanging art storage room. This might be the most concentrated collection of value I've ever seen. Gotta be nearly a billion euros of art in here.

Went to the Art Depot Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam yesterday. After seeing/smelling Wim T. Schippers' Pindakaasvloer the warning sign at the ticket counter made perfect sense. Also, that's not my footprint in the peanut butter, but someone else did step in it.
