We did get an NES once they came out, but that got counteracted with also giving us computers. My brother got a Laser 50 and I got a PreComputer 1000. Both from Vtech. I learned how to type and program in BASIC in grade school on these things. My mom hated the PreComputer 1000; it was very noisy.

And then me and my brother shared a Capsela 1000 set. He never played with it once my parents gave him a bike, so I spent a lot of time building robots with this set. It did not last long; those hex connectors always broke.

I had one of these 150-in-one electronic kits and learned about capacitors and transistors and shit. You put batteries in it to power it up, and would mildly electrocute myself accidentally a LOT.

Showed this desk to my goddaughters tonight because me and her father were talking about desks in grade school. I had this kind up until 4th or 5th grade, and then we got those plastic and metal ones. Youngest GD: "Did you go to school during The Color Purple?"
