Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 05/10/2026I love when you can tell that people like this's main source of knowledge on negotiation is reality tv and shit. Unironically doing "you're breaking my balls here". Internet comms are comically low. Years of racing to the bottom between artists made comms undervalued, 120 is (relatively) crazy low. 1170
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 13/08/2026That's about it for now outside of work I'm still sitting on for when the art is more passable. I'm doing 3d work behind the scenes, practicing for my post pokeich project. Maps/days are being prototyped and I'm messing around with visual styles for the maps that I'll share along with the models. 010
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 13/08/2026I'll probably release it standalone after act 1 is out as it will be the most "complete" at that point. I won't be adding every mon to it anyhow as it's just the mons used in game I need programmed in and their unique mon focused abilities in lieu of the in game ones. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 13/08/2026What this all means is I now have everything BUT the customization of the zone itself being implemented enough to start fully prototyping out the days, and the maps. I also may release the TD as its own standalone toolset/standalone level editor. But I've got enough projects going on rn as it is. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 13/08/2026at the cost of the cooldown being the move with the largest one. There's more to be mentioned, the game modes, scoring system for the levels, specific abilities, how the stats work, etc. But I'll save those for when I show off the visuals, currently, chibi pixel art inspired by puzzle fighters. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 13/08/2026When I say reimagined, I mean from scratch, as those games were way rougher than I remembered. With moves in particular, I redid the original game's more active system of choosing moves per tower and added the ability to tie moves together like the Mystery dungeon games- 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 13/08/2026While I want to do a full post showcase with more finished art and mechanics, I can now finally say that I made a completely reimagined version of pkmn tower defence. With modern TD mechanics of terrain, move system reimagining, and adding in abilities to make the towers more unique and "tactical". 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 13/08/2026Sorry for the lack of #pokeich updates. My drawing tablet's busted and I don't like to share really rough art drafts of stuff outside of patreon/discord. What I will say is A: The cooking capture system is finished for the zone. B: The Pokezone minigame has been mostly implemented 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026This was a long one, and this is the cut down version! This is why it's taking so long, and why after act 1 the game wont be out until it's finished. The story must be fully implemented or no act will feel complete. Next week will be 3D/humies and wont be as wordy as this thread. Probably. 000
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026All these segments are meant to get people to check the nooks and crannies of the maps to find things for the zone. Working to ensure they will find new quests/alt paths to main quests and such, through their interest in the zone, or vice versa. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026Mind you tracking all this is meant to be distracting and a little disorienting. I brought back the journal from DPPt, With the player now able to insert their own notes. To help keep people aware of the playthrough they're on. The main story isn't a major presence in act 1 though as it becomes. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026To ensure the minigames do not feel repetitive on future playthroughs. You can use the highest "score" or applicable, for that day in other runs. They're are all optional, affecting stories, endings, scenes, and such. But aren't technically required for a playthrough. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026How "active" I want the cooking system to be is up in the air. I aim for the game to be entirely playable one handed, which has gotten in the way quite a bit. The minigames are more slow and manageable to allow for the one handed mode. However if they're unfun I'll just make the minigame menuing. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026the zone and await housing. Housing them allows you to use them in the BIG minigame for the zone which I'll share once it's presentable. As well as other smaller minigames maybe (if it is not inconvenient). Lets just say this is all taking a lot of work. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026You also gain materials from defeating wild mons (like in SV) to use in dishes. Each mon has a "taste" that can be deduced both through research, intuition, and deduction through feeding other foods. Once a food they like (that's good enough for them) is given, you get a scene and they will go to- 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026Now, to get mons for the zone is the first minigame. Cooking. The quest where you learn to cook in the essentials version of the game, now introduces you to making food. Both for taming OR as medicine items. Ingredients are both spawned per time of day in every area of the game in unique spots. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026Minigame areas and houses are built/obtained through quests and exploration in that playthrough. Decorations are cross playthrough and are obtained through achievements, secret npc convos, endings, etc. To make going after them feel worth it. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026It now acts as place to house/employ wild mons befriended for the minigames. Allowing you to place the homes and decorations obtained through exploration of the world and deep diving into the maps. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026This week is going to be about the minigames. Being all words. But I got a lot to talk about this time around The Pokezone has been reimagined, from being a quest hub, to being a expansion on secret bases (while also still acting as a quest hub). 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/06/2026Alright, time for another #pokeich thread This month I worked on: The Pokezone and minigame(s) Working out the kinks on the 3D side, optimizing the shaders for low-end mobile, and web players. With some light proof of concept for future games. The human 2D concepts 111
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/05/2026I'm now remembering that I actually got into art and game dev again after initially giving up because shadowlands was that wretched. All my initial stuff was made while I was doing covenant grinds 000
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 30/05/2026I have not played a tab target MMO in years after being freed after almost 14 years of WoW. I will never go to FF14 "Did you hear tom morello did a song for a raid" Do not do this to me. I've been free for so many years. I can't do it again. 000
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/05/2026That's it for this thread. Next time around I'll try and bring some human designs as well as some 3D work. As once I have the player design first pass I'll make a quick scale 3d model to finally do some blockout and prototyping. Sharing some gameplay design decisions and opponent tamer creation. 010
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/05/2026for the port's buildings, especially some palafitos to be built along the leftmost foundation of the town. Along with ref and fonts, I've been collecting/making my personal sfx library that I'll probably put on patreon at some point with all the 100% original sounds with a com use license. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/05/2026The most time I've spent sick so far, has been in bed gathering reference for the world's visual design from magazines, movies, etc. As well as the fonts I know I'll need for work later on textures. I know I want to keep the striped, pastel colours from the naval areas in the main games- 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/05/2026For character sketches I've got bun (first design pass here), Shin, Scy, and Dit done Dit is a party member now. Taking the off colour appearances of others, human and mon. For gameplay this means that at end of battles, Dit can get inspiration and copy an opponent's lead for your own use. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/05/2026During this process I might draw a few full illustrations of the map for the visual pass of the map later for architecture, colours, etc. I'll share some more when the map's blockout and art pass are being done. As the layout sketches will be better presented alongside the context of the blockouts. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/05/2026I got some work done for the port town. I drew a layout map of what I know will be there. Including the cam angle transitions in the overworld in the different areas. Adding anything new during the blockout/prototyping phase. With visuals for the art pass once prototyping is done on all the days. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/05/2026Time for this week's #pokeich thread It was a bit slow this week as I got a chest cold that's been making my heart unagreeable with my body. First up, my Trello is now public. So, if you want to see finer progress on the game check it out (light spoilers) trello.com/b/0UAWmLJI/d...trello.comTrelloOrganize anything, together. Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. In one glance, know what's being worked on, who's working on what, and where something is in a pro... 120
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 18/05/2026If you're here and just looking for my pokeich/CCC make sure to click on the tags and search my account by the tags. If you're a true freak then I try and include tags in the alt text so if you do a keyword search for my account you'll find what you're looking for. #pokeich #CCC 000
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 18/05/2026That's the end for this pokeich thread. I'll continue to make these regularly. Saving me some time to work on the game that would be spent modifying my website manually each time with updates 000
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 18/05/2026They'll have quite a few alts in scenes. I know they have alt body parts for the butt, stomach, boobs, nips, and if they have genitals or not. There's clothes for casual, and job/minigames. I'm not going to share for what just yet. Leaving their "hair" for last. With classic and braided for now. 210
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 18/05/2026The CreatureCatcherCreator(CCC) tool is now in a kind of pre-alpha state. With pokeich being the test to see how well it works before public release. So for now I've been getting through all the concept art needed. I've made a trello board to track it all (private rn). Starting with Lop's designs. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 18/05/2026I'm going to start posting dev threads for #pokeich here as my discord is now for patrons and my site being unfinished. mirrors on my website will be made later for archival. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 05/05/2026Mind you I think most artists just choose a service and move whenever it shuts em down like most websites. I know some host themselves but again I'm no web dev and seems like its a long term time investment 110
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 05/05/2026Host gator still allows nsfw I think. Popping sites I know into domain checker returns them most the time. Pop in any artist's page you find into a domain checker and check out their hosting service 110
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 05/05/2026Every person I've asked that has one said they made it themselves and is manually maintained by them and I feel like it could break my brain. Maybe you could make a booru if that's even still a thing? IDK any options for nsfw works that are simple/easy 110
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026Accessibility in VR is just as important in vr as even seemingly minor stuff like this and improper audio mixing can knock people with 1000 hours in vr on their ass. It's a weird ass platform lmao. 010
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026Before I go, one thing, for some reason UE5 lets you do is resolution scaling In vr. DLSS/FSR along with temporal aliasing can cause wicked motion sickness and headaches in a significant amount of people (even outside vr). Work around not having it other than with it even if in the settings on ship 200
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026Oh yeah, of you're familiar with data driven architecture then the CPU hassle will be mostly post processing. I'll be sure to check out your game at some point. A vr dev who even asks these questions is enough a sign of quality for me to check out the game. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026UE5 is a constant struggle in a lot of ways. I could write a whole guide on performance but it'd only do so much. You just have to find your GPU series target and run with it in UE5. Focusing on the CPU after that target reaches a reasonable amount of frame%. As you'll always hit that GPU floor. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026I work in UE4.22 mind you. So on UE5 without getting close to mobile rendering you're always targeting 2080+ I've gotten UE5 "quality" running on an old 980 before in UE4 visual only eroge. But I also used a lot of performance techniques to get there in PBR and "cheating" with lighting and such. 101
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026Yeah, vr is heavy on pre prod planning for performance more than anything. What I mean by the 2080 thing is that UE5's default desktop scaling raises the performance floor so that anything pre 2000 series cards can't run it (Not to mention AMD in VR). As the performance floor was raised to them. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026UE VR running lumen/nanite/UE5 in general cuts out GPU's pre 2080 cards and AMD but that's a whole other issue with making unreal perform well. As vr needs that 90fps mark and that's real rough with trad PBR workflows. 110
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026In AAA devs don't use lumen or nanite even as it's performance is brutal and the lighting while realistic is generally not what is wanted in 3d art as lighting direction is integral for a scene's emotional presentation. Especially in eroge. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 25/03/2026It depends on who you're targeting. If you're target really high end nvidia gpu's with a a hyper realistic style then yes. If it's stylized in anyway or you want people below a 4080 to run (or AMD users in general) then solid lighting direction is the way to go. 100
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/02/2026A Morrigan pic from December. I kinda like the ink more than the coloured version TBH. If it weren't a quick ink over an inktober sketch I would've fixed up her legs (also tragically lost her built out traps in the ink) 020
Karmacc @karmacc.neocities.org · 27/02/2026Some pokeich concept art of potential art styles and character designs. Standouts being leaf and lop and. Gard's head here def not making it in. 010
