So found out one reason I get a bunch of email for random people as there is a Dave Robison (not n in middle) and a lot of people just add the "n". I found this out by someone emailing a scan of a paper order form that includes a full credit card including cvc.

Are you currently work in the industry the con is in? Also studying undergrad or equivalent level you are more of the intended target student. Vs say doing a part time MBA type thing or short course a certificate, when feel you aren't the intended student pricing target. It is a continuum

Kawaiicon is back for 2026 and while we get a lot done with volunteer help, Wellington City Council don't accept venue payment in high fives 🙏. The 2026 Kawaiicon Call for Sponsors is open! If you want a copy of our sponsor pack, throw us an email at kiwicon@kiwicon.org.

Random thought. For the Aussies coming to @kawaiicon.bsky.social fireworks are on sale until the 5th. So you can get your fix of contraband you can't get in Aussie 🤣 Please be careful no videos like Kiwicon 5 🤣

Health Minister: I would like to find a way forward to stop the strikes. Well big idea pay them what they are worth? Or he working on the PM's quote "go where the jobs are" keep the offers crap & get them to move the better jobs in Aussie.

So want to troll spammers at some times. You say you have sold software testing to businesses like mine. What cons are needing software testing services? You are writing to a conference. Why does a conference need software testing services?

Can spammers please check their LinkedIn scraped mail mergers. Please don't send to my current business email about previous things I have been involved with.

Also misses the bit that the US is making a big change where status quo across the world is that customs agency requests money from the recipient on arrival. Now US changing to model where only land stuff where paper shows duties & traffifs prepaid. majority of postal orgs arent set up for this

Kākācon is a fun opportunity to see some of your favourite birds from Aotearoa, have a lovely walk, alongside some great hacker friends. You can have your great hallwaycon conversations without the distractions that are common in bars. It is happening Thursday, 6 November at 13:45 at Zealandia.

With all the airlines banning the use or charging of battery banks on planes. Can we look at making something like an NCAP Safety rating for battery banks? So people know what they are buying? I buy more expensive brand names hoping for better safety features as they don't want reputation damage.

I got sick of typing while doing PenTests & writing reports, so have been using macros on a Streamdeck. I have put some thoughts on this & what I am doing in a blog post blah.karit.nz/2025/01/14/a...

Are You Sick Of Typing While Testing?

TL;DR Tools like keyboard macros or Streamdecks can help you test and remove friction points. If there are common bits of text you type a lot, there are ways that don’t involve alt-tabbing back to you...
