I, like many others, rely on these reports & categories to convince Homeland Security of specific country conditions for asylum claims. Without these categories, the State Dept *disappears* these forms of discrimination & impairs the asylum process. It's the point. And it is evil. Not merely unjust.

I spent the day at Latinx mini-mercados, laundries, and grocery stores handing out red cards abt immigrant rights (& what to do if agents show up). The appreciation was so intense and palpable. May sound self congratulatory, but it was by far the best way to get over this awful what-do-we do-slump.

In my case, I was lucky I wasn't super severe (many just can't handle any travel, either by car or plane) so I traveled back and forth between 8 different doctors across multiple states. If this had been in place, I could have done it all in one place.

In a normal, reclined MRI, it wasn't obvious that my spinal stenosis was causing the kind of severe compression that could lead to all my ANS symptoms, but it became obvious on an upright MRI.

This is BIG news for folx w connective tissue disorders/EDS. When I was most sick & realized there was a link to spinal instability, I needed an upright MRI to get (1) a surgeon onboard (2) insurance coverage of spinal surgery, (3) disability/medical leave/tenure extension. #MECFS #pots #disability
