🛸Querying UFO mystery while also learning about self-pub 🚀Still plotting space hotel mystery & getting hung up on the details before I write. For example, I want there to be some big secret on a hidden flash drive and I can't decide on what it should be - whistleblower report, stolen info, etc

Hey, cabin mates! My name is Karin and I write romance + mystery w/soft sci-fi. The sci-fi is in the background while the interpersonal relationships take the forefront. What do I love about my WIP? It's on a space hotel.🚀 Fav snacks: Blackest of black coffee + chocolate 🍫

All of this to ask…do I move forward with the plan to self-pub? Do I hang on to that sliver of hope and keep querying? Or do I shelve it? Thoughts appreciated!!😊

Well, I had plans to self-pub this spring and then through this app, received interest from a (big!) editor, letting me know to have my agent send her the MS. And of course, I still do not have an agent.

I ended up turning down that offer because I found out in the contract that they wanted 2 books before they would publish 1. As a mom w/a full time job, there was no way I was going to do this and said no thank you, I’ll self-pub.

I've had many close calls, but most responses came down to 'the writing is great, but I don't know how to position/market this.’ Last year, I emailed outstanding agents to let them know I was accepting an offer from a small press.

🧵Asking for your thoughts about my publishing situation... 🛸 My current MS (UFO Mystery) was repped by an agent for a few short months in 2023 before he unexpectedly left the industry and the agency let me go. Since then, I have been editing it to appease interested agents/editors.
