Badly fractured pinky toe means no running for 6 weeks and crutches for now. 😬😭 I’ll spare you the feet pictures but it has become very colorful 😵🤢 Not sure how to survive dark season and the holidays without my physics outlet. Any advice from fellow running addicts?

Over easter I was sick and it felt like strep throat with fever, chills, aches and could barely swallow. Yesterday I had a 8/10 migraine and to be honest I'd rather exchange it for another 3 days of flu-like symptoms.

I finally ran a PR at the Wantzenau Half yesterday with a 1:37:58. 🥳 It took me 4.5 years to beat my half PR I ran in Utah in 2019 on a slight downhill course. Mainly it seems like the winter of speedwork (aka tons of hard intervals with the club) is paying off.

Nothing makes me want to quit academia more than power-tripping assholes making you waste days upon days on the most minor details in *TYPESETTING* that no one in my entire scientific career has cared about. At least now I am intimately familiar between the difference of a hyphen and a minus sign 🤬

The number of vacation day you get in France is truly wild. This year I had 44 days available. Even with taking a month off in summer, 2 weeks to go to iceland & all standard holidays at least a week, travelling to races & now 2 weeks at Christmas. I somehow still have 8 left 😅

ADS does not find that paper under the first name author, when its prefaced with a collaboration name. E.g. if its "Gravity Collaboration: XYZ et. al " Then it will not show up when you put the first authors name into ADS. Is there any way of linking that?

I wish that anonymizing of proposals was better because most of the time when I am evaluating them and its my direct field I "know" the authors within 5min of reading it. And I am not actively trying to figure it out, its just often so obvious. 😬

Just a warning but if you suggest an alphabetical author list to me you will meet my whole personal resistance of being (mostly) dead last for the last 34 years. Let's just randomize? or use reverse alphabetical? Using the same ordering is just shitty and unfair over time and I am OVER it.
