I have never seen LAX International Terminal as empty as yesterday. Going through the security check was weirdly fast. The lack of foreign travelers arriving and departing was extremely palpable... Totally understandable, of course. 😞 We left the USA. Can't wait to vote though!

"This is how everyday authoritarianism takes root .... through the slow, steady erosion of norms and the normalization of silence. It manifests in the mundane: the neighbor who hesitates to discuss politics, the employee who avoids social media, the friend who changes the subject."

As authoritarian tactics escalate, from targeting immigrants to silencing dissent, America’s democratic foundations are under threat. The normalization of silence and everyday authoritarianism underscores the urgent need to speak out before it’s too late.

First They Came for the Truth: The Tyranny of Silence in Trump’s America

Martin Niemöller’s haunting words remind us that tyranny often advances not with a roar, but with a whisper—and our silence.

Very intelligent and detailed (psychological, historical, and sociological) analysis. "The con isn't just psychological. It's material. It's not just about being lied to - it's about being looted."

I want to move to #Portugal. Oh, to live amongst people who are genuinely nice, and where random acts of kindness is the way of life, and where dictatorship is a thing of the past... 💭

I experienced a disturbing incident today. I was walking down a street, on my way to pick up my dog from the groomers, passing a neighborhood elementary school, and a local Jewish school/temple. I was reading something on my phone while walking and only looked up when I heard someone yell: (1/)

Since #measles is now in L.A., I got my MMR vaccine 💉 on Friday. My #BlueShieldPPO insurance doesn't cover it, so it was $121 out of pocket. But I'd rather be safe than sorry, so it's worth it. (Oh, and I experienced no side effects.)

Have I made it to some sort of "alternative" starter pack? Yay, lucky me 🙄 All of a sudden I'm being followed by 🧙‍♀️🧹, 👿 wrshpprs, ladies that like to whip, and other weirdos. I don't care what rocks anyone's boat or what their personal beliefs are, but I do 🚫 if that's your entire online presence.
