Digital sketch vs. final (oil). Originally thought I was going to paint this on natural canvas with clear gesso, but I took a stab at it and didn't like it. So ended up painting on white gessoed canvas. Sometimes you gotta change up your idea 🤷‍♀️ #oilpainting #painting #figurativeart

I worked full-time in tech for many years before rediscovering art in my 30s. I still do some freelancing. QRP with your artwork and share what other passions/jobs/hobbies you have? ✨

Progress pic from a while ago (still in the "ugly" phase). This triptych I made for Starbucks was so large that the three panels didn't fit side-by-side in my little studio... 😂 #art #painting #muralart #mermaid

QRT with your sketch and final I often do large "sketches" to plan out everything before I get started. For some reason, I just gotta see it at full size to really get a sense of the composition.

Hi #PortfolioDay! I’m a freelance illustrator based in Hamburg, Germany, with a focus on fantasy and history subjects & narrative illustration. Currently open for new projects in publishing and print games! 🌎 www.kristinagehrmann.com 📩 info@kristinagehrmann.com

Swan Warrior: Illustration of a warrior in chainmail and cloak, drawing her sword, stepping over a water surface towards the viewer. Behind her, a flock of swans rises up into the sky.

A Moon Mage and her Cat-prentice: A young woman in hijab sitting on a tree branch. She is holding a wand, conjuring up glowy, magic forms of moon phases. Behind her is the sky with a large, full moon. Next to her a cat is sitting and also attempting to do magic.

Minos: Dawn of Faith - board game cover. Illustration for a board game box cover, showing a scene inside an ancient Minoan temple. A large statue of a snake goddess stands inside a decorated room, while two priests are conducting a religious ceremony in front of it. In front of them, an altar is full of sacrificial food offerings. In the foreground, several steps down and looking up at the ceremony, there is a crowd of worshippers, and we are witnessing the scene from their perspective.

Hi #PortfolioDay :) I am a traditional artist who is constantly experimenting with combining oil paint with other media (sometimes weird stuff like glass beads and crushed semi-precious stone!) My art celebrates the multifaceted nature of female power and identity ❤️
