the payoff in this graf is very satisfying
Deep Fried is the only one that tastes remotely like it’s food for humans. Between two golden cookies are two layers of fried dough-flavored cream, which sandwich a third, black cream layer flavored like an original Oreo. That means the Oreo cookie is actually consuming itself. The taste is abominable, but those sick freaks have finally done what the ancients predicted as far back as the fourteenth century. They created the oreoboros.

Text: There's a cocaine scene in Modern Times Subtext: Wait is that a Tabasco bottle?
Charlie Chaplain goes hyper after liberally sprinkling cocaine on all his food and eating some. A prisoner to his left, Big Bill (Tiny Sandford), has a thousand-yard stare. There is a bottle of what is clearly Tabasco in front of Bill's left hand.

Ideapod seemed to struggle to settle on a business model. Over the years, it vacillated between promoting a social network for people with big ideas, a search engine that never seems to have materialized, something called “Ideapod Academy,” and (highlighted) even a 16-week course by a Brazilian shaman named Rudá Iandê. (highlighting ends) It also held real-world “salons” where Ideapod users could meet and discuss ideas like virtual reality and the “role that inspiration can play in the human connection.”Don Rio shouting, "HOT DOLPHIN!"

The Brown brothers are power players of high-traffic AI-powered slop media. We were surprised to learn that one of them also has a history with Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted collaborator of deceased sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein.

The tech without a use case pops up again. My credit cards provide this service for free. Is Muse my avoided charge? (Or, you could, I don't know, sort your register by amount & vendor and scan it quickly every month and click "dispute". As I did 40ya and still do, as a backup.)
Muse ad that says it can find duplicate charges and get them removed.

A package of Verkade "Frou Frou" cookies. You see, Frou Frou was Count Alexei Kirillovich Vronsky's beautiful racehorse in Lev Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. He rode her recklessly in a meaningless race and broke her back.

I'm making a pumpkin pie this morning from actual baking pumpkins and I once again thought of my all-time favorite Peanuts cartoon. I love Linus so much.
1st panel: Lucy has cut open the top of a pumpkin and is scooping out the innards. Linus is squatting next to her looking at the pile of innards on the ground.

2nd panel: Linus, green and looking sick, is gazing at the reader.

3rd panel: Linus is walking away looking ill. Lucy shouts after him: "Well, whst's the matter with YOU?"

4th panel: Linus has stopped & turned around to face Lucy out of frame. He shouts: "You didn't tell me you were going to KILL it"

Your reminder that tech has always been Like That; it helped birth Scientology, too, which relied on a high-level rocket-scientist occultist Jack Parsons for seed money
In 1939, Parsons converted to Thelema, a religious movement founded by English occultist Aleister Crowley. Parsons and his first wife, Helen Northrup, joined Crowley's Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.); he became the California O.T.O. branch leader in 1942. Historians of Western esotericism cite him as a prominent figure in propagating Thelema in North America. Parsons was dismissed from JPL and Aerojet in 1944, due to his involvement with O.T.O. and his hazardous laboratory practices. In 1945, he and Helen divorced. In 1946, he married Marjorie Cameron. Shortly afterward, L. Ron Hubbard defrauded Parsons of his life savings.

Kessler Syndrome is not a bad 70's thriller title. You're about to hear a lot about orbital debris cascades. Keep your paper maps, GPS probably gonna go away if any of these weapons used. Lots of other stuff too. taskandpurpose.com/news/space-f...
"Today, we continue to ensure we remain ready to meet the challenges of evolving threats wherever they exist. This is why the United States now has on-orbit space control weapons capable of defending the joint force against hostile adversary actions," Meink said during his speech at AFA's annual Air, Space and Cyber conference. The Kessler syndrome, also known as the Kessler effect, 112 collisional cascading, or ablation cascade, is a scenario proposed by NASA scientists Donald J.
Kessler and Burton G. Cour-Palais in 1978.
It describes a situation in which the density of objects in low Earth orbit (LEO) becomes so high due to space pollution that collisions between these objects cascade, exponentially increasing the amount of space debris over time.

I mean, this is straight out of a bad movie The Terrifying Person Who Bankrolled Trump Jr.’s Wedding Donald Trump Jr.’s lavish wedding, which he described as attended by “just really close friends,” was thanks to an ally of Vladimir Putin. newrepublic.com/post/215371/...
Kremlev rented out a private island where the reception was held, and guests were housed for $100,000 per night. He paid an estimated $70,000 for a massive fireworks display, and his team even helped to plan the festivities.

Kremlev is president of the International Boxing Association, which is financed by Gazprom, a Russian state-owned energy company. The wedding payments were sourced from an entity in Dubai that IBA uses for financial transactions.

The event was small—just 18 people attended the ceremony, and around 50 attended the reception—which made it all the more conspicuous that there was a large delegation of Russians wandering around. None of the family’s pictures showed Kremlev, but the top of his bald head could be spotted in a group picture posted by a friend of the bride.

There are two very simple solutions here which do not require legislation: 1. Make the work top secret by classifying the patents on which it rests and 2. Categorize it as an armament under ITARS. The first is how Leo Szilard brought official attention of the atom bomb while freezing most work.

Ah to be 21 again! That's not how translation works. “Traduttore, traditore”, or "translator, traitor", is one way of looking at it. But even a traitor has their own loyalties, just as you did. What were you loyal to? What does "match" mean, dear "Ping Ling", my pseudonymous lit major?
However, for Ping, fidelity to the original is essential. “If a translation doesn’t match, I’d simply call it a mistake — that’s non-negotiable,” he says. “No matter how good your education and cultural literacy, or how beautiful and fluent your translations are, if you’re not faithful to the original, there’s nothing to talk about.”

Reading the Wandering Rocks chapter of Joyce's Ulysses and it seems an odd coincidence to see a mention of the General Slocum disaster while the 25th anniversary of 9/11 is imminent. Until 9/11/2001, that boat fire & sinking was the biggest single-day loss of life in NYC history.
Father Conmee began to walk along the North
Strand road and was saluted by Mr William
Gallagher who stood in the doorway of his shop.
Father Conmee saluted Mr William Gallagher and perceived the odours that came from baconflitches and ample cools of butter. He passed Grogan's the Tobacconist against which newsboards leaned and told of a dreadful
catastrophe in New York. In America those things were continually happening. Unfortunate people to die like that, unprepared. Still, an act of perfect contrition.
