New paper from my PhD out in @elife.bsky.social! 🎉 We asked: when the state of the world is changing, how does the brain adjust how much incoming evidence is accumulated? Turns out there isn't one answer—there are (at least) two. 🧵

@weratedogs.com -- We completed our puzzle to find that important dog parts have been redistributed. Our soccer-prodigy corgi was given a bonus limb at the cost of a friend's snoot. Athleticism unmatched. Anatomy concerning. We hoped for one of each piece, but everyone is still perfect. 13.5/10

With all the fuss over tylenol, we're missing a bigger issue: we don't know enough about medication safety in pregnancy because so few drug studies include pregnant people. And that harms both women and their fetuses. My latest @sciam.bsky.social www.scientificamerican.com/article/what...
