The first thing I always look for when I see a shelf of mangas and light novels is Rascal Does Not Dream, but I'm always disappointed when I never see it.

I'll never forgive the Rascal Does Not Dream anime for erasing the detail about Saki being a fan of the Gaburincho Bear 💔

Every time Yen Press announces that they're going to be announcing a bunch of new releases I'm like "wow, they're gonna really announce Sakurasou this time," and then they don't 😭

For this rewatch, I'm going to be doing something I've never done before and rewatch every episode on the day they came out, which means I'll be watching an episode every week until March. Obligatory reminder to watch Sakurasou

No wonder Sorata was always pissed half of the anime is him putting up with this stuff 😭

I didn't even realize today was the 14th anniversary of the Sakurasou anime, I would have made some art. Though that gives me an excuse to rewatch it.

I know they said Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend is going to be the end of the anime but I hope we get a season adapting the short stories in Beach Queen + and Dr. Pig + (plus whatever future collections they make), I want to see more of Minagi and Kaho

『Daily Misaki! #556』 Thinking hard or hardly thinking?

040

Misaki 🌸 @kamiigusa.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Both books the Dear Friend movie is adapting combined are just a bit shorter than ONE of the books the Dreaming Girl Movie adapts. I guess my point here is that I think they're going to actually have time to adapt the events here.

030

Misaki 🌸 @kamiigusa.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

The Dear Friend movie being nearly 2 hours sounds promising. You'd think with the Dreaming Girl movie being a similar length and also adapting 2 books that'd be a bad sign considering that movie skims a lot, but the books Dear Friend is adapting are significantly shorter.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Dr. Pig + releases very soon in Japan but it's gonna be like a year before I can even read it because I'm committed to reading the English versions

『Daily Misaki! #555』 Sakurasou definitely altered my brain chemistry or something, there is no other show where I feel the urge to rewatch it every month to the point where I just know every single scene like the back of my hand. Also 555 lol

The Summer Hikaru Died - 8/10 Solid show, has a nice cast and an interesting overarcing mystery. I'm looking forward to seeing season 2 whenever that inevitably comes out. Ended a bit abruptly, but I guess it is unfinished after all.

110

Misaki 🌸 @kamiigusa.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

If I had to describe the Haruhi Suzumiya series from what I've read, it feels like the plots of Rascal Does Not Dream with the tone of Sakurasou. I wouldn't be surprised if both of those series took inspiration from it.

020

Misaki 🌸 @kamiigusa.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Come to think of it, this is probably why I've been really liking the Haruhi Suzumiya series so far. The drama is good but it's also just really fun watching a bunch of friends get into stupid hijinks.

130

Misaki 🌸 @kamiigusa.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I make fun of Sakurasou's one filler episode all the time but I genuinely wish the anime had more of it. Sakurasou's cast is really fun, seeing them do stupid stuff is awesome. That's probably why a lot of the spinoff material appeals to me so much, I just like seeing these chatacters goof off.

031

Misaki 🌸 @kamiigusa.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Honestly Rascal is probably the only series that could rival my love for Sakurasou, so it's a bit sad to see it over. That's not gonna stop me from yapping about it though, especially as Yen Press continues to release everything like a year later in English.

I only just recently read the novels, this year in fact. For the longest time I was an anime only fan but I decided to bite the bullet and read them. Very good, would absolutely recommend. Unlike Sakurasou, there wasn't a single book I disliked lol.

120

Misaki 🌸 @kamiigusa.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

The Rascal Does Not Dream series is pretty much over and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sad about it. I feel like I only just got into it and now it's done. Yeah sure, I started getting into Sakurasou long after it was over, but Rascal was different. I followed it for a bit as it was going.
