in my newspaper/newstalk days, certain beat reporters would often write short hand but also keep a recording as a backup. It was frightening how accurate those notes were when called on being 'misquoted' - I think it's only for a select few sickos. I certainly wouldn't do it without tape.

YES! Seeing it live has been the highlight of my year. I can only imagine what a show at the Hollywood Bowl is gonna be like.

and this is before the gameplay. levitating, smashing, telekinetic attacks, gravity switching? With a DMC/Nier approach to combat/traversal? SIGN ME UP! Except, it's dull. Everything gets repetitive quickly. Navigation blows. Puzzles seem solely designed to waste your time. blah, a mess.

Stephen Kallao @kallao.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

you've got the dialog with Jesse, his sister, the lead of the first game, being useless cryptic filler, the usual jj Abrams mystery box nonsense. "they're coming. I can't feel it. I need to shut them out" Then there's his handler who hates him but is also worried about him. why?

100

Stephen Kallao @kallao.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

Given his backstory, it makes sense he's never matured, but he has no personality other than contrite, and the VA performance suffers because of it. (no idea what the VO direction called for of course)

Stephen Kallao @kallao.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

The story felt like a decently constructed dream. Motivations and logic mostly made sense. The strong world building and incredible style held it all together. The sequel is missing pretty much all of that. It starts with poor Dylan, who is essentially a teenager as your protagonist.

Stephen Kallao @kallao.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

To start, I liked the first one. Almost loved it! But the final act was absolute garbage, from the combat level scaling up a mountain, to the abrupt end without a real resolution. No boss fight is a bold move, but without RPG/persuasion elements, felt underwhelming.

by the way, if you've never read the story of how they came up with the FOX NFL theme, read this. It's absolutely wild, especially this pre-cell phone/internet world tidbit. deadspin.com/batman-on-st...

They banged out something pretty quickly, and then Schreer brought in a band to play it. He paid for this on his own dime. "On spec," he says. "I felt really good about my relationship with George." Within a day, he had a 48-person orchestra—48 people!—playing the demo. How in the world did he get 48 people to show up on such impossibly short notice?
"In New York," he says, "if you want Chinese food at 3 in the morning, no problem." Apparently that applies to French hornists, too.

#2 might not have the oomph of NFL on Fox (an incredible theme in it's own right) or the giddy joy that is roundball rock, but it is the blueprint from which every other sports telecast followed. It's the one 'theme' I allowed myself. Apologies to Mike Post. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIxe...
