Kaleidoscope 6.7 added Commit History to the changeset sidebar. Kaleidoscope 7 adds a visual commit graph, making branches, merges, and relationships between commits easier to understand.

Kaleidoscope 7 introduces Live Working Copy Changes.
Files that become modified, new files that appear, staging changes, commits, and reverts can now all be reflected in an open changeset. No more closing and reopening the comparison to see what changed.

Working with AI-generated changes usually means working in parallel—across branches, worktrees, and multiple iterations. Kaleidoscope 6.7 adds better support for that: • compare across worktrees • outline view for changesets • commit history in the sidebar

Did you know? Kaleidoscope 6.5 lets you compare files selected in Finder using a global menu command (or even better: one shortcut). Here it is in action:

Also new in Kaleidoscope 6.5: you can now choose to open SVG files as images instead of comparing the source XML. Particularly useful for tracking small changes to SF Symbols assets.

Kaleidoscope 6.5 takes Image Comparison further: Zoom out to see differences. Zoom in to understand them. Pixel Comparison lets you inspect image changes pixel by pixel — down to exact color values.

Thank You Michael Tsai! mjtsai.com/blog/2025/05...
Kaleidoscope 6: Kaleidoscope has been growing on me as a Git helper tool (vs. specifically to compare two files) because I can quickly drag and drop the current file from BBEdit onto Kaleidoscope’s Dock icon to browse its commit history. – Michael Tsai, https://mjtsai.com/blog/2025/05/28/kaleidoscope-6/

Thanks mas.to/@Cykelero!
Congrats on shipping Kaleidoscope 6! Collapsing unchanged lines makes such a difference. Just checked it out and it feels so natural already.

Did you know that you can quickly preview any file in a Folder Comparison or Changeset by pressing space or selecting View > Quick Look ⌘Y?

Whenever you spot a (short) git commit hash anywhere on your system, even on a web page, just open the changeset of that commit in Kaleidoscope from the service menu.

Did you accidentally open a branch comparison in the wrong order? No worries! Just right-click on the row in Recents and select ‘Open Inverted’.

In File Properties, you’ll find all the data except for the actual content. Even Extended Attributes and the presence of a BOM in UTF-8 files are included.

Want to know the exact file size of an item in a folder comparison? Just hover over the size shown and you’ll get a tooltip with the byte size. It works for the date modified too. And guess what? Folders also show you the total size of their contents.

When you see a commit hash in Kaleidoscope, you can pop up a menu with handy commands like copying the hash, checking out the full details, or opening the commit in your source service.

In a text document, quickly jump to a specific line using the keyboard shortcut ⌘L (or Navigate > Jump to Line). Since Kaleidoscope has multiple editors, you’ll need a way to select which editor you want to jump to. In addition to the buttons, you can also use ⌘◀ or ⌘A to select side A, and so on.

It's a great honor to once again be included in Brett's Favorite macOS Apps this year, alongside some of our own heroes. Thank you @ttscoff.bsky.social for the recognition! 🙌
I swear by Kaleidoscope for all of my “diffing” needs. Whether I’m comparing versions of a file, multiple directories, Git merge conflicts, Git history, or anything I need to see the changes in (even images), Kaleidoscope offers a very Mac-assed experience with smooth edges. It’s not cheap, and you’ll know if you need it. And if you do, you’ll love it.

Big thanks to @robbiethewagner.dev for the shoutout in his latest blog post, "Top 5 Web Developer Tools for 2025"! We're proud to be featured alongside Warp, VSCode Insiders, Arc and GitHub Desktop. #WebDevelopment
Quoting Robbie Wagner, see https://robbiethewagner.dev/articles/top-five-web-developer-tools-2025:
"… Kaleidoscope keeps it simple, and has a beautiful user interface that makes resolving conflicts a breeze. It allows you to view what changed over a time period, compare branches, and comb through the entire history of your files.

I have not even begun to scratch the surface of all the features Kaleidoscope has, but I still think it is worth it just for the basic diff and merge functionality. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed!"
