Blessed Mabon! 🍂 Autumn Equinox Cake (aka apple cake) is in the oven. The house smells like apples, spices, and the neighbor's backyard campfire. And here's poem from my OG poetry collection, A Time for Winter. It's still one of my favorites. I hope you found a little way to welcome autumn today 🖤

A poem for 38. From your local moody, water-eyed, Cancer sun/Leo moon poet who misses the ocean, listens to the cicadas, has a heart too big for her body, and will always stop everything to point out a butterfly or the moon. 🌙🦀🦋🤍 #poem #poet #poetry

Background image a view upward beneath a tree with a dark brown trunk and branches and orange and amber leaves. A white box in the center of the photo contains qupted text that reads: "September has mellowed whatever there was of roughness in her heat: the days are more perfect, but less vigorous. The summer in fact is on the wane; peacefully fading like some brilliant spot of light. The colours of the sunset are everywhere." Quote is attributed to Virginia Woolf, A Passionate Apprentice: The Early Journals 1987-1909.

First spooky season read (from August): "The Invocations" by Krystal Sutherland. 10-word snapshot: Queer. Witchcraft. Curses. Helpful(?) demons. Murder. Girl power. Necromancy. Ancestral lineage. Highly recommend as a witchy read this fall 🔮 #books #witchybooks #spookyreads

Chili's good in Texas but even better in a Minnesota winter. 🤠
Close up of a silver bowl halfway filled with black and red beans chili, some avocado chunks, and a yellow cornbread muffin.

Learning about the polyvagal theory via my therapist is wild. I feel like my dorsal vagal system has been in charge FOR YEARS. I also learned that I can give myself choices. Who knew?!
