So I think with all of the shiny hunting I'll be doing, I'm going to push forward with completing my living shiny form dex. I have just 3 more pre-Switch hunts to do at this point, but I don't have them set up yet, so I'll be filling in other parts of the dex until then. These will be streamed

I can finally say that I have beaten at least 1 game in every generation of Pokemon. Gen 2 eluded being beaten for so long, however, this will not be the last time I play through this generation. I look forward to giving GSC the playthrough it deserves next year

Volbeat and Illumise are both in the SV DLC. The only legit shinies that get locked out are Mew, Celebi, Spinda*, Jirachi, Darkrai*, Shaymin*, Type:Null, and Poipole

You're right about that, but I didn't want to really include something that wasn't feasible for a lot of people. It's kind of a lot to ask someone to drop $200 just for the Bonus Disk alone. There IS the alternative thanks to imablisy, but that toes the line of what some people are comfortable doing

I keep forgetting that the Arceus item (Azure Flute) wasn't limited time in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. You can just get that by having a save of Legends Arceus with the Azure Flute, and it shows up in your bedroom

A note on Type:Null in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, you will want to make sure all of your boxes are full before you initially do the thing to get it here. Otherwise, it'll be a longer reset. It's similar to Castform in Pokemon Emerald

The only interesting one to note in this case is Darumaka, as it's effectively breed-only in any generation aside from Black/White, Black 2/White 2, where you'll have better odds in the latter two if you have the shiny charm.

The last category that I have is Pokemon that are easier to get encounter-wise in pre-Switch games, but can be obtained through breeding no problem. These are simply Alolan Rattata, Alolan Meowth, Ledyba, Taillow, and Darumaka

The last Pokemon I think would be easier to hunt pre-Switch is Clamperl in Pokemon X/Y. Shiny odds with chain fishing get insane, and Clamperl is a 30% encounter where it can be found, so it's not too bad. Just gotta be good at that timing while having a Sticky Hold Pokemon in my lead.

In this category of easier to hunt prior to the Switch is Sunkern simply due to the fact that it's available in the Friend Safari. Otherwise, you could just easily breed for it in Scarlet/Violet, which is just a method I find tedious and boring, so not for me.

The next category of Pokemon are simply Pokemon that are easier to hunt in older games, in my opinion. The first group is Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. I'm personally not a fan of Dynamax Adventures for shiny hunting legendaries specifically, so that's mostly what's on this list here.

The last four shinies locked Pre-Switch are Type:Null, Poipole, and their evolutions. If you're strapped for copies, playing through a singular copy of Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon will be your best bet, as you can get them shiny there, then a second playthrough for their evolutions
