The Kaido Genkai online shop is going to open tomorrow, with everything discounted for the grand opening! It’s print-on-demand because... indie game budget. But all proceeds go towards the continued development of KG and there's no AI art! Though sadly, the service doesn’t support regional pricing.

Pushed build v1.12.4 to Steam! Branding updates across the buildings, FXAA/TAA/TSR options for better performance, tree-flicker bug fixed, sharper building textures, and new Kickstarter billboards. Still a few bugs that I really wanna fix though.

I promised Hacao I'd give the Tuned Tomodachi Turbo some underglow because honestly.. it's begging for it.

Finally fixed the rendering issue that made tree leaves flicker like crazy at certain angles. As a bonus, they should be a little more optimized now too.

Seemed a little silly that Eien didn't have their own building before. Now they have a few outposts around Nibiru.

Just dropped 5 Patreon-exclusive wallpapers featuring some fantastic illustration work by Rogue13! I originally commissioned these for the upcoming merch store, but liked them way too much. c: Each one comes in 4K desktop + phone formats! Link below~

Wasn't going to add distance fog to the game, but it adds so much depth and helps a lot with pop-in. I quite like the look, though it won't be aggressive.

NEW CAR: The Tomodachi Turbo! Is it fast? Absolutely not. Does it have a turbo? Technically. But does it absolutely rip? Only spiritually. Coming one day to future Patreon chapters of Kaido Genkai (and the full game of course). Amazing work by Hacao.

Kaido Genkai is all about exploring, so I finally made a better way to keep track of things! Discovered objectives now appear on an interactive map, you can pin wherever you’re headed next to your mini-map, and the world reveals itself as you drive! Check out the updated demo on Steam c:

Tired of getting lost in Kaido Genkai? The Objectives screen has been updated with an interactive map showing every objective you’ve discovered, the ability to pin them straight to your minimap, and fog that clears as you explore. No more wandering in circles wondering where the hell you’ve been.

Kaido Genkai: An Anime Racing RPG @kaidogenkai.com · 26/08/2026

I was working on the images used for the mini-map and noticed this old maze is still hidden in it. Long ago it got reworked into the cave area everybody knows and... has strong feelings about. 😅Crazy how much it changed.

Just another little teaser of the new vehicle~ It's finally in game!

Kaido Genkai: An Anime Racing RPG @kaidogenkai.com · 12/08/2026

The objectives screen has a big map now too. It only shows objectives you’ve found, and moving through the list pans the map to their markers. I thought connecting all these systems would be the hard part, but somehow the fog was way more intense. Lots left to polish and fix, but good progress!

I really struggled with this one, but I finally have working distance-based fog on the map! c: Placeholder graphics obviously hah. Still needs plenty of polish, but I’m very happy to see it working.

Kaido Genkai: An Anime Racing RPG @kaidogenkai.com · 07/08/2026

Started mucking around with a full screen map. Should you be able to see where objective are on it, or does that take away from some of the exploration fun?
