Full transparency: the Steam page release is waiting on a few things: 1. The Kaia character model, being worked on by an artist friend I commissioned. Animation work with it will be done by me 2. Prettying up levels so they are more appealing when widely shown; grid texture levels aren't lookers

Outside of usual applications like upscaling and frame generation, I prefer to not use generative AI in projects, mostly for ethical reasons, but also because I don't like the lack of control AI has for npc interactions and story. It's not really *my* story if AI writes it, y'know

Unfortunately, it would cause the player to be able to infinitely recharge the charge punch, due to being able to jump off and on to walls again and again. Not super easy to balance or design levels around

There's actually already a system to slightly alter the FOV a certain velocity threshold! It's most noticeable when you charge punch into the air and let yourself fall like a rock afterwards

And I couldn't figure out a balanced way to recharge the charge punch move whilst wallrunning, either. Every method I tried was either open to easy exploitation or would be wildly inconsistent based on level design. So in the end I decided that even if it could be solved, it probably wasn't worth it

A specific problem I ran into was that I balanced the charge punch move around it recharging when you hit the ground, but when you're wallrunning, you're not touching the ground for long stretches of time, so you might burn your charge punch early before some upcoming obstacle that needs it

Kaia's Ascent once had wallrunning, but after enough playtesting, I decided to cut it. Wallrunning was fun, but it broke the game's intended movement techniques and meshed badly with other mechanics. I just like to see which mechanics actually benefit the game in testing, and if one doesn't, cut it

Thanks! This is what the main gameplay looks like, racing through levels, using your abilities to reach the goal as fast as possible. It's similar in structure to Neon White, but with a different set of platforming mechanics, comparable to Mirror's Edge mixed with Mario-esque level gimmicks
