Hubble version of NGC 5248. Processed by @thocarp.bsky.social www.flickr.com/photos/19746...
This Hubble Space Telescope image captures the face-on spiral galaxy NGC 5248 in stunning detail. The galaxy's bright central bulge, a mix of yellowish hues, indicates a concentration of older stars at its core. From this central region, intricate spiral arms unfurl outwards, showcasing a rich tapestry of star formation. These arms are speckled with bright, blueish clusters of young stars, contrasting sharply with the dark lanes of dust that weave through the galaxy's structure. The overall impression is one of dynamic motion and vibrant activity, revealing the galaxy's grand design and the ongoing processes of star birth and evolution in exquisite detail, thanks to Hubble's powerful optical vision.

JWST observed NGC 5643 yesterday, using NIRCam. This data was processed by @yuvharpaz.bsky.social nerdculture.de/@yuvharpaz/1...
A black and white, full-view image of the galaxy NGC 5643 taken by the NIRCam instrument. The galaxy has a prominent, bright white core that fades into a smooth, elliptical shape. The surrounding halo is speckled with individual stars and shows a mottled texture, indicating areas of varying star density and dust. The image is composed of multiple tiles, with faint black seams visible at the edges of each tile. Four prominent diffraction spikes are visible, emanating from bright stars within the galaxy, creating a cross-like pattern.

Serpens Nebula (NIRCam image). A nearby home to newly forming stars (around 100,000 years old). 🔭 🧪
A rectangular image with black vertical rectangles at the bottom left and top right that indicate missing data. A young star-forming region is filled with wispy orange, red, and blue layers of gas and dust. The upper left corner of the image is filled with mostly orange dust, and within that orange dust are several small red plumes of gas that extend from the top left to the bottom right, at the same angle. The centre of the image is filled with mostly blue gas. At the centre, there is one particularly bright star that has an hourglass shadow above and below it. To the right of that is what looks like a vertical eye-shaped crevice with a bright star at the centre. The gas to the right of the crevice is a darker orange.

This captivating Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) image from the James Webb Space Telescope showcases the spiral galaxy NGC 4569. Classified as a barred spiral due to its central bulge intersected by a bar-shaped structure, the galaxy's core glows with a faint, dusty rose color. Delicate tendrils of gas, tinged with yellows and oranges, weave throughout the spiral arms that gracefully unwind outwards. The cooler, outer regions of the galaxy fade into a deep, inky black, offering a glimpse into the vastness of space.

Great JWST (NIRCam + MIRI) data processing of Cartwheel galaxy by Chris Ashford. www.astrobin.com/ozi22p/ 🔭 🧪
This stunning image is a composite of data from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI). It reveals the Cartwheel Galaxy, a spectacular sight located about 500 million light-years away in the constellation Sculptor. The galaxy is nicknamed the Cartwheel due to its distinctive ring-like structure, the result of a high-speed collision with a smaller galaxy some hundreds of millions of years ago. The collision sent shockwaves through the Cartwheel, compressing the gas and dust within it and triggering the formation of new stars. The bright inner ring is dominated by young, hot stars, while the outer ring is laced with cooler, older stars and pockets of dust. This image, which combines the wavelengths of light observed by NIRCam and MIRI, allows astronomers to see both the hot young stars and the cooler dust in the galaxy, providing new insights into the Cartwheel's history and ongoing evolution.
