iPhone Duo looks neat! I’m a southpaw though, so a little apprehensive about the right-mounted control cluster. Unlocking with Touch ID seems like it’d be a little awkward. Maybe I’ll test drive it in-store one of these days.

Thanks to @aturi.to's waypoints package, it was very easy to get a list of clients to display in this popover that I now have on my website. Instead of opening the composer only in Bluesky, you can now click to write a message in an app of your choosing!

A slightly more interesting day today: At work, we're doing an AWS workshop, Agentic Design Patterns with Claude. I've already been pretty deep with Claude for a while now, but hopefully learn something new. and then halfway through the day, off to a new endodontist! Not looking forward to that.

will stancil is engaging with the Nuclear Discourse Button. i of course said this almost a year ago, and this website was absolutely _not_ ready for the take back then. let's see how it goes now. i think he is right though. gleefully using the word "clanker" makes you a bad person, imo.

But when you start to treat an LLM with cruelty, the only thing you're really revealing is what you have in your heart, not whether the machine has one. And if agents are going to be showing up in more and more spaces on our lives, developing slurs that are based on real slurs used for real humans to describe them doesn't seem like the way to go. Terms like "clanker" and "wireback" follow the exact linguistic patterns used to dehumanize actual people. Practicing this language - even toward AI - normalizes the social patterns that enable cruelty toward humans.

I’ve been letting the machine run on a few projects for a little while now, and I haven’t been as deep in the code. So I decided to tackle a new project, just doing some data analysis over the firehose and historical data, and learning Gleam and BEAM. First time, and seems neat so far!

Has anyone done “discord presence detection, but as a standalone atmosphere app” yet? Thinking of like a minimal desktop daemon that could run standalone or plugin to eg. a future Roomy desktop app, and publishes out records when you are currently playing something, accumulates your playtime, etc.

As more of a backend guy, it’s been cool having the robots spin up a quick and dirty UI on whatever I’m building. However I feel like I’m missing an opportunity to level up my own design skills. Any recommendations on where to start? I was thinking I’d boot up Figma and start moving boxes around.
