J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 21/09/2026This is really missing the point but google reverse image search says this ICE agent is wearing an $11k Breitling Bentley B05 Unitime wrist watch at a hiring fair. Luxury fascism meets luxury fashion. 180
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 08/09/2026It’s appalling how fundamentally misrepresentative of the mechanics at work this is. If you want to claim it should alter our understanding of self we should be more appreciative of how much our original thoughts are shared with other humans - and how it can’t be attributed to a mechanical entity. 020

J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 15/06/2026It's really awkward, worth getting one of the spacers with its own focusing screen and leaving the Graphic's screen and hood at home. I almost wish I could swap in a Lomograflok cam for the rangefinder. 020

J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 25/03/2026I love the idea and sketched a Stardew Valley meets NMS concept but I’m not a game studio. The indie game Starsector has a mod called “space truckin” that does something similar in a top down space RTS sim. AESOS is a game where you run a space yard and make ships for specific needs. 030

J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 03/03/2026I was unclear in my first comment, SecDef doesn't have the legal authority, but is claiming it, and Anthropic will have to suffer until they can stop him in court. I should clarify that while the law doesn't say "SecDef can't commit corporate murder," he will very much do that. 100
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 03/03/2026Treating Section 3252 as a SecDef's ability to do corporate murder through sanctions would be a horrible abuse of power - which is why Hegseth is doing it. Sec 3252 is just a procurement authority the same way that ROTC and CE at Harvard is just an education allowance. 100
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 03/03/2026I would agree under normal conditions, Section 3252 would not give SecDef power to do this, but like this admin's treatment of Harvard and the law firms, threat now and boycott later. SecDef is using 3252 to designate the "covered system" (Claude) as risk in NSS and extend ban to connected sys. 100
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 28/02/2026The President (rec from SecDef) have the ability to do so. Under the designation as a "Supply Chain Risk" the government bars any private company that holds a government contract from doing business with Anthropic. This means companies that provide power, servers, etc. can't do business with both. 100
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 28/02/2026Any company that does business with the gov cannot do business with Anthropic. Potentially all the way down to contractors and sub-contractors. It's like saying you cannot use the roads or interstates for your business. 110

J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 11/02/2026*cotton gin. Like with Uber, the technology just intensified the imbalance of the power dynamic. It is a problem that human dignity is being weighed as contingent on the outcome of AI. 000
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 11/02/2026Absolutely. Chris Hayes’ post was strange. Imagine telling abolitionists they really need to consider how the cotton mill might change slavery. The problem isn’t how efficiently the slavery was run, the problem was the evil of slavery. 040
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 11/02/2026Slavery abolitionists didn’t need to change their values or goals because the cotton mill supercharged production in the South, slavery still needed abolishing. Leaving aside the argument that the technology might live up to the hype, the left still needs to seek human rights & dignity. 100
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 10/02/2026It looks like the rules would apply to the members of the House even in joint sessions like the State of the Union, but still not the other branches. 010
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 10/02/2026In the article you linked it clearly states the rules apply to statements made by members of the house about the president or other branches of government. The rules only apply to House members, officers, & proceedings. Even the other primary body of the legislative branch (Senate) are not bound. 210
J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 04/02/2026Bluesky should have auto alt text for accessibility. Maybe start with the iOS app using Apple's OCR support for recognizing text in images with the Vision framework. I think auto-OCR should be a default feature in all new apps. 000

J Xavier @jxdowd.bsky.social · 29/01/2026This is facile. If the money isn't in question then you don't have leverage. This idea ignores the entire concept of a CR or why we have shutdowns. You are not a representative of the people. 000
