Happy Publication Day Nathaniel Philbrick. I read this as an arc, but I can’t wait to reread it in this edition. This was one of the best books I read in 2026 hands down. #histbookchat

I am currently reading The Johnstown Flood by David McCullough. It is so hard to put this book down. I have read about 30 percent of it. It has suspense, dread, and a compelling story with some interesting characters. If you haven’t read it yet, do it. #histbookchat

Just finished Linebacker III by Thomas Newman, and I had a lot of fun with this one. I really liked the alternate-history premise of exploring what might have happened in Vietnam if Nixon had remained in office and the events surrounding Watergate had played out differently. #histbookchat

My initial thoughts on The Five by Hallie Rubenhold are that this was a heartbreaking look at the lives of the five women associated with Jack the Ripper. I finished this book thinking a lot about how easily history can remember the killer while forgetting the lives of the victims. #histbookchat

Reading a great alt history of the Vietnam war. I find this to be so interesting. Alt history is interesting because it lets you take something you already know happened and ask, What if it had happened differently? What is another alt history book that I should read next? #histbookchat

Just finished A Fever in the Heartland by Timothy Egan. As someone from the Midwest, I couldn’t believe this happened so close to home. Egan does a great job showing how quickly the KKK spread through communities and politics in the 1920s. A fascinating, disturbing, and important read #histbookchat

Book Mail! Linebacker III is an alt history of the Vietnam War. I think alt history is an interesting way at looking at history. The Family Behind the Girl Scouts of America is a biography of the Kinzie-Gordon family from his he 1759s to 1950s. #histbookchat #booksky #history

I just finished The Right Hand Man by Cillian Dunne, and it was a fascinating look at one of history’s most influential figures through the eyes of the person who stood closest to him, focusing only on the famous moments, he gives life to the quiet influence that often goes unnoticed. #histbookchat

I really enjoyed The Wide Wide Sea. Hampton Sides has a way of turning history into a gripping story, and I found myself immersed in Captain James Cook’s final voyage from beginning to end. The book captures both the excitement of exploration and the human cost that often came with it #histbookchat
