hornets only healthy front court players are now 39 year old taj gibson, very unpolished rookie salaun, and diabate. the curse of purple shirt guy strikes again.

Charlotte's LaMelo Ball posted this season's fifth 50-point game in a loss tonight. He joins Sacramento's De'Aaron Fox (60), Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo (59), Orlando's Paolo Banchero (50) and San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama (50). More: marcstein.substack.com 📷: @realappleleak.bsky.social

grant being out with a knee injury would put the hornets at *checks notes* negative big men. diabate just gonna get more time to shine but taj gibson may actually retire with the amount of minutes charlotte will need from him. #nba #hornets

great effort by hornets. fought till the end. interested to see if the effort stays if the losses keep piling up. 82 combined for lamelo and miller - they are showing out as a fun young duo. might be wrong but think thats the highest combined for a hornets duo ever.

nothing looking pretty for charlotte but they won't go away. staying pesky and cut the lead to 5 on a deep lamelo 3 with a minute to go.

4th quarter lamelo showed up a quarter early. riding a huge 3rd to a career high 41 but still a few minutes left to go. #nba #MILvCHA

WOW THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE SHOW OF ATHLETICISM BY MILLER!

brandon miller showing out in overtime was a thing of beauty with several fugit 3's that were just demoralizing for detroit. team and crowd really rallied around him and lamelo, but miller stepped up when lamelo fouled out again.

the biggest question i have for the hornets right now is disappearance of the midrange from miller's game. he is noticeably bad at getting to the rim and the lack of the mid has exposed that even more.

watched on delay but man tari and amen might be my favorite duo coming off the bench in the league. absolute hell raisers.

Eric Collins has raptured on Melo's turnaround three to tie it

4th quarter lamelo was put on this earth to get Eric Collins going.

really like what im seeing from salaun, doing a bit of everything. would like to see him commit to more ball screens though instead of slipping everything. don't know if it's by design but want to see him use his size - especially to help free up miller when lamelo sits.

Williams can't get back soon enough. 4 fouls for taj 4 minutes into the 2nd.

if you have thought about watching a hornets game lately i have two questions for you - do you want to watch the lamelo/miller duo? and did you know a team could be so desperate for a center that they start taj gibson?

10 points in the first 4 minutes for lamelo - he reads my posts for sure.

lamelo is leading the league in 4th quarter scoring. if there was a nba league pass rankings for just 4th quarters, it'd be him. games like the pacers and celtics show he's got to do it consistently before he's taken seriously.

4th quarter melo is a very real thing at this point. that whole organization is probably praying over his ankle braces on a daily basis. a little more consistency and shaking the foul troubles and he could be looking at all nba imo.

encouraged by salaun's start as well. long way to go but created offensive rebounds and made hustle plays. the effort is there and you can see things starting to click for him as he learns with each game. can't teach his size, athleticism, and motor.

jury is still out on coach lee this early on but this type of comeback hasn't been a thing for the hornets in a minute. lamelo's health matters for sure, but team is playing solid defense and energetic offense even when down which is encouraging.

lamelo and miller are the most fun i've had watching hornets basketball in a long time.

if you're having a bad day, just remember that googling "dwight howard farts" leads to a variety of very real articles from reputable media outlets that are indeed about an nba star and his flatulence.
