*lunging forward..... forward. Lack of proofreading grilling me here.

JW aka "Owner of 7 vinyl albums" @jw7thdman.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Priest is a band that almost seems to need that "setback" in order to jump forward. Aside from Turbo and Ram It Down (which is a whole different side topic requiring nuance), I don't think you can say they put out two duds in a row (I'm fully prepared to defend Jugulator).

same can be said for Priest. I feel KM/Hell Bent is a step back musically from Stained Class (even though this is the album that first truly defined Priest's image and sound). British Steel doesn't need anything said about it, Point of Entry is another step back before lunging for with Screaming.

I agree with the thought about Death- my understanding is that Chuck was someone that wanted to constantly grow and evolve. However, I feel you could see and hear the evolution of the band on each album, while having each album be a step forward- the rise was a lot more linear. I don't think the

Painkiller. Anyways, as fans, we are fortunate that fate worked out the way it did. SWOD is an album that is an important part of the Judas Priest story, and hopefully this new re-release helps gets some more ears on it. Aside from The Ripper. God, I hate that song

JW aka "Owner of 7 vinyl albums" @jw7thdman.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

All in all, it's an album that should have been bigger than it was. This is just solid, awesome, 70's hard rock. At the same time, I don't think we end up with the same catalog of albums had SWOD truly launched the band. It's crazy to think that the band that wrote Dreamer Deceiver also created

album. More traditional rock, bluesy elements, even a little bit of prog at times. And definitely some proto metal. There are moments where it feels like they are grasping at straws, but they manage to grab the right straw when they reach out. It doesn't ever really get messy or stagnant.

JW aka "Owner of 7 vinyl albums" @jw7thdman.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

On Killing Machine/Hell Bent for Leather they started to dial into their sound, and this would lay the groundwork for the next handful of albums (British Steel to Defenders of the Faith), as well as essentially define who and what Judas Priest are. Back to SWOD, it's always crazy listening to that

JW aka "Owner of 7 vinyl albums" @jw7thdman.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Every now and again, I jump back into Sad Wings of Destiny. The album is just a crazy reminder of how much Judas Priest evolved over the years. The run of SWOD, to Sin After Sin, to Stained Class is a fascinating journey. And this is probably my favorite stretch of 3 albums from Judas Priest.

Your idea assumes they have cognitive awareness to feel anything aside from hate.

4.5 stars. If Dave's comment happened in the Tokyo Dome, we are easily talking about comment of the year. All seriousness, a lot of the things Dave says will give me a headache, but he's bang on with this.

Just a couple of purchases from the weekend. These are the first two pieces of vinyl I've purchased that aren't Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden. It's time to startlooking into a decent sound system.

Here's the overall yearly rundown for my daughter and I. Some good, some bad (opinion dangerous?), but an overall fun little journey we've been on. What has been incredible has been the chance to experience some first time viewings with her, namely Everything, Everywhere.... and Project Hail Mary.
