Even the "stopped at the Iraq war"-clock of Blair can be right twice a day

Meanwhile the recipient of a definitely immoral and possibly illegal £5mil bung is being joyously heralded by the client media as the likely winner of the next GE. Still normal for UK.

That exactly describes what happened at the 2024 election! Norman Tebbit was more left wing than the current Labour party.

I wonder why it doesn't normally make the news, and now it does... This is exactly how the political narrative in the UK is controlled by the media barons.

What a coincidence that the proportion of people answering that they are proud of Britain's record is the same as the proportion who think a vote for Reform is acceptable 🙈 It's ok to be proud of the good bits and not vote Reform!

Oh for f#&k's sake @radio4rne.bsky.social since when do you take to announcing TV spoilers in your news headlines!? Well, no need for me to watch Celebrity Traitors final now 🤷‍♂️

Can't listen a second longer to that gobshite on BBC R4 The World Tonight as he does the spade work for Farage and Reform on trying to discredit the Lib Dems and their attack on them.

In Roman numerals it is WWII - two capital letter i - not two number ones. Maybe it is you that did not do Roman numerals at school? 🤨

The people who benefit are not the same as the larger group who pay the cost (although there is some overlap); the most benefit (financial) accrues to an even smaller number; and the cost (impact) is not totally accounted. And yes these are failings of capitalism without adequate regulation.

The problem is that it fences off too much, and destroys the grass for the rest of the summer, and in fact year. Destroys a public good for the financial benefit of a few: hypercapitalism on steroids.

Maybe, but they'd be opening the door to Farage being the first 30% PM in 2029.

Sounds like a good reason to ditch FPTP and move to a more proportional system.

This 100%. In fact more broadly I would say the BBC's awfully degraded news output has undermined my desire to seek out their content of any type on any channel.

USA keeping bad company with UK, whose gov committed to a) break the law in a "specific and limited way" to enact Brexit, and b) had to define in law that Rwanda was a "safe country" to be able to deport asylum seekers to, in order to try and appeal to far-right voters.

One of the most impressive technical feats from the last century (an affordable, high fidelity, practically portable, colour printing press!) has been killed off by hypercapitalism.

🚨 When Justin Trudeau resigned, he said he regretted keeping First Past the Post in place. We're writing to Keir Starmer to warn him not to make the same mistake. Sign our open letter to the PM and tell him: back PR before it's too late. 📝 actionnetwork.org/forms/warn-s...
Graphic with Justin Trudeau and the quote: "IfI have one regret, I do wish we'd have been able to change the way we elect governments in this country.
People would have been looking for things they have in common, instead of trying to polarise and divide Canadians against each other." Justin Trudeau
