Oh yeah, It's Tezuka birthday on Nov 3rd, isn't it? I guess I should probably be more productive and put something out on that day... Well, I'll try. That's all I'm promising.

Finally got around to watching all of Osamu Tezuka's experimental animation shorts. I think my favorites were Broken Down Film and Muramasa. What are yours?

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

I wish there was a Youtube filter to not show videos with AI Thumbnails. I don't like the way they all look, and I don't trust the creator put effort into the video if they couldn't even make the thumbnail themself. #youtube #AIart #ai

I wasn't expecting animated wolves to attack in my live-action film, but I'm enjoying the ride

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Going through the Space and Yamato anime for Phoenix, and man these are better than the Karma one. These ones didn't need to cut out like half the story.

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Do we think Osamu Tezuka would like Cybersix?

030

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Ahh, Fantasia 2000 Rhapsody in Blue. Such a marvelous animation. Why can't Disney put out anything like this anymore? (or advertise them better if they do. I could just be ignorant)

001

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

The more I think about it, I'm starting to think calling Osamu Tezuka "The God of Manga" merely because he was a pioneer or did a lot of things first, is a disservice to him. Like, him being first was important, but he was also good. He made good and interesting manga.

020

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Man, that Phoenix: Karma anime isn't great. It looks good, but they had to cut so much of the story. If you saw this without reading the manga, I don't think it'd give the best impression

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Man I wish I was better at writing. I could get my scripts done much faster if I didn't suck at it. I'm struggling to talk about what Phoenix: Karma is about, and that should be easy. I'm just not finding the right words

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Now that it's had some time to digest, a (rough) Tier List of Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix Parts: Top Future, Karma, Sun Dawn, Space, Resurrection, Strange Beings Yamato, Nostalgia, Life Civil War Bottom Robe of Feathers is weird to rank cause I know it got messed up

110

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Did anyone ever see the movie Beau is Afraid? I'm just learning people didn't really like it, and I remember it being pretty good

001

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Finally was a little less lazy today, and finished editing the rest of the 100 Tezuka Facts shorts Now to get around to the actual 100 Facts video. After that... possibly "Mystery Video 1" (Osamu Tezuka related)

020

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

Update: I have now finished reading Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix. It was pretty good. It's gonna take me a minute to sort out my thoughts and write the script for it, but for now I guess I can try and get around to all the adaptations. Best Part? idk. Hard to pick for now.

021

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Trying to write the "Future" section of the Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix script... Being non-spoiler, it's a little like; " Uh, this is what happens at the start, and then... a whole bunch of "stuff" happens... and uh... more "stuff" " How the heck to I talk about this non-spoiler?

I hate it when I randomly come up with a video idea, and say to myself, "Wow, that is some clickbait garbage", and then lament knowing it would probably do well "Top 10 Tezuka Works Too Woke for a Modern Audience" will probably not ever be made by me... but I could...

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

I have now finished reading Phoenix's Dawn and Future chapters. I can't stress this enough. Future "feels" like Tezuka's been holding himself in for ages, and he finally got to just write what he wanted. This was made in like 67? NOTHING he made at that time was like this

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

So, looking through the list of everything related to Phoenix, and Japanese Wikipedia says Billy Bat is notably inspired by it. I have not read Billy Bat, but I'm curious if someone here can testify that it's true?

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 28/08/2026

Inspired by how well the Tezuka Shoujo video's thumbnail turned out, I'm looking at making new thumbnails for the rest of them Here's a prototype for vid 1. I'm thinking a chalkboard green for the background. Not quite happy with this one, but it works well enough for feedback

020

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

So, I'm super-rough drafting the concept of the idea for a "The Art of Osamu Tezuka" video. I've had the idea for a while. Going with general categories like; - famous panels - double page spreads - fun with panel lines - funny panels - just good looking pages any other ideas?

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

It's interesting releasing a Youtube Short a day, with the same title and description templates, and seeing when the algorithm just fails. From a 1000 view average to 47 today. I wonder if the algorithm change yesterday did something, or if tomorrow will be normal?

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 25/08/2026

Looking up "Astro Boy" on Youtube just to see if anyone made some kind of video essay for white noise, and I'm surprised how many of the results are the 2009 movie. Like, is that really the default for English fans? I'm a little disappointed

011

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 24/08/2026

I've actually been considering it for a bit, but should I post my Youtube Shorts on TikTok? I don't use TikTok, and to me it seems cringe and bad, but it seems like it could be useful to grow the channel and educate people. Thoughts?

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

Hello. For those who may be wondering, the currently planned upload schedule is: - Release the 100 Osamu Tezuka facts shorts - Release the compiled 100 Tezuka Facts video once that's done - Hopefully have finished videos for the Osamu Tezuka series finished by that time

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

Am bored. Anyone have any Osamu Tezuka related questions? I haven't watched Ribbon Hero yet.

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

Just finished rendering Youtube Short 5 for 100 Osamu Tezuka Facts. I really hope this one in particular gains traction. It's the one briefly going over his early inspirations. I'd love it if people weren't under the impression it was all Disney

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

Well, with the new video, I've reached 300 Youtube Subscribers. Next up, I'll release the 100 shorts for 100 days. Maybe by the end I'll have 400? I'd be encouraging and gratifying if my content reached a larger audience. Well, who knows. The algorithm is weird.

Ok, it's uploaded and scheduled. The new Osamu Tezuka video released Friday Aug 7th (tomorrow) at 3pm EST Dev Notes: - I've gone back and forth and back and forth on this vid. No idea if any good - Had to re-record a section. Can you find it? - Testing a slight style change

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

Uuuugghhh The rendering screwed up part of the video. Now I need to re-render it again, and then watch it through all the way to make sure it's not messed up... I might need to save the shoujo vid for tomorrow just to make sure it's not messed up. Sorry guys.

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

Ok then. The Tezuka Shoujo video is 99.9% done. I'll probably just take the time to edit the manga panels I use to remove text and clean up awkward bits But anyways, It's very likely I'll release the video tomorrow

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 04/08/2026

Had to open up some of my Osamu Tezuka books and take some pictures for a thing. Here's some stuff to look at:

021

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 03/08/2026

The lazy part of me that thinks "the video doesn't need visuals, you're second-monitor content anyways" is very tempting I wonder what the percentage is for people who actually "watch" my videos, like focuses on the visuals, and those who just play me in the background?

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

I saw Spider-Man Brand New Day today It was pretty good imo. I didn't follow the tailers much, but I was surprised what it ended up being about. I guess it's gonna factor in to later Marvel movies. One or two aspects that maybe weren't used to their full potential, but good

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 30/07/2026

Just a week and a half until The Ribbon Hero. It'll be interesting to see if and what kind of discourse it sparks(and if it's good). (Osamu Tezuka Shoujo video is slowly progressing, and will hopefully be out like two days before)

031

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Well, I'm 99% done with the audio editing of the Osamu Tezuka Shoujo video. This thing was supposed to be a shirt 20 minute thing, but I guess around 49 minutes will do. (this is why I'm slow with stuff) Just gotta fix some of the audio levels from different recording days.

040

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

Audio editing has to be the most boring and tedious part of the video making process (at the very least, it's near the top)

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

Alright then. After some detours, I've finished recording the audio for my next planned video. Let's return to the topic of Osamu Tezuka, for a bit of a different episode See you (hopefully) early August

030

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Everyone wants the Goku's Kamehameha, but let's be real. Naruto's Shadow Clones would be the best power. Even if you could only make 5, that's 5 of you that could do tasks, and learn new skills that you retain. I could be so productive with even 2 more of me. Never mind 100

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 13/07/2026

I got a nice comment on one of my videos today. I may be small, but they do give me a bit of energy and motivation

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

Gonna try and repost this again. Help me help out a smaller creator. Check out my buddy's book

020

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

So, how are you guys doing? Doing okay? Watched a good show, read a good book, or played a good game lately?

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 09/07/2026

I'm finishing up my Osamu Tezuka Shoujo Works video script. I've currently decided to briefly talk about some of his adult works with female protagonists (that might change). Anyways, what are your interpretations on Book of Human Insects? Like, what's the main message?

Hey, so, I've got a buddy who's written a book. They haven't sold many copies, and I'm trying to help spread the word a bit. Maybe sell an extra copy or two. I haven't had the time to read it myself yet, but maybe one of you will like it? Give it a look. www.amazon.com/HIS-BLESSING...

Alright. I've recorded the audio for 100 Youtube shorts (and the eventual video that's just all of them more or less stitched together) Now to edit 100 bits of audio... Then edit 100 tiny videos... And one big longer one... This is gonna be tedious.

000

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

Idea for a really stupid video: Top 10 questions I would ask Osamu Tezuka if I could raise him from the dead, or summon his ghost or whatever... Not sure if this is the new "most dumb" video idea I've had though

030

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 05/07/2026

Well, I'm growing closer and closer to the goal of reading every Osamu Tezuka manga. Pretty soon, there will only be the one I've left for last. You gotta save the best for last, right? So, what IS the best Phoenix part? I may be finding out soon?

010

JustSomeCanadian @justsomecanadianot.bsky.social · 04/07/2026

I'm not sure anyone will care, but I finally did it. 100 Osamu Tezuka Facts I've found 100 "good" ones that don't feel like filler, and are individually interesting. Hopefully they can help grow the channel, and spread knowledge
