This is what the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel did to my decorative metal lizard🦎. It was firmly staked against the wooden slat panel fence &the 20-55mph wind gusts blew through the space between the slats and bent it out at a right angle.

Seedless watermelons were on sale so I was watermelon thumping to discern the ripest sounding one. Hollow sound=sweeter tasting. Nearby shoppers were confused/amused/befuddled with the technique. Melon knocking must be a geographically based anomaly.

I’m trying to imagine an upcycle of my disused old aluminum pie crust edger, but can only visualize things that I wouldn’t display in my own yard or patio. I haven’t used it in over 10 years, so it’s now in the donate bag.

1950’s cast aluminum pie crust edger that has been languishing in a kitchen drawer unused. I can think of no alternative upcycle use for it- so it will be donated to a charity shop ASAP.

I clean and fill our hummingbird feeders daily when the temperature is at or above 90°F. The hummers are used to seeing me & know that I won’t disrupt or harm them. Today, I was waiting for the tiniest buff colored hummingbird to finish drinking so I could switch out the patio feeder.
