80–90% of Colorado contractors will scoff at the idea that heat pumps work in the cold. here's why they're wrong (and where the myth came from) 🧵

Just Heat Pumps @justheatpumps.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

5 things people don't realize about heat pumps 🧵 1. it's an AC too. 1 system heats AND cools. 2. it works in Colorado winters. modern units run below zero. 3. no gas = no combustion, no carbon monoxide. 4. steadier, more even comfort than a furnace. 5. it can qualify for major rebates. Reminder :)

Vern spent 30 years in local water quality. He cares about doing things right, so that's how he approached his heat pump. Our design included a sub-panel. After the load calcs, we found it wasn't needed. Refunded it in full. Plus with rebates and tax credits, he got an additional $9,625 back.

Bigger is NOT better with heat pumps. An oversized system short cycles: it blasts on, satisfies the thermostat fast, and shuts off before it ever evens out the house. That's why your upstairs roasts while the bonus room freezes. Correct sizing fixes what a bigger unit can't. 🎙️⬇️

Bart's favorite spots in his home: his garage (truck collection) and basement were the two rooms his HVAC couldn't reach. Way too hot, or way too cold. 🧵

A customer told us he didn't even realize it was hot outside, his house just stayed comfortable. With his old system? His house got hot the second it cut off. 🥵 Now the temp just holds. And THAT is what a properly designed heat pump does. 🎥 David's story ⬇️

A heat pump: low 50s decibels: about the level of a normal conversation. An old AC unit: 75–80 decibels, sometimes loud enough to hurt. The secret? Variable speed( sometimes 17 different speeds) instead of the old full-blast on/off

011

Just Heat Pumps @justheatpumps.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

What's actually in your air with gas heat? A gas furnace burns fuel to make heat. When it doesn't burn cleanly, or an aging heat exchanger cracks, it can release carbon monoxide into the air moving through your ducts. You can't see, smell, or taste it. A heat pump = no CO from your heating system.

000

Just Heat Pumps @justheatpumps.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

If the answer was A, we might run the other way. If you are from Colorado…you get it.

000

Just Heat Pumps @justheatpumps.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

When we ask people why they want a heat pump, we expect comfort or cost. Sometimes the answer is safety. One customer had a gas leak. Another's mom got sick from carbon monoxide before they realized it was a cracked heat exchanger. A heat pump doesn't burn anything, so that risk is alleviated.

000

Just Heat Pumps @justheatpumps.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

You pay to heat and cool your home and if it's leaking out through gaps and poor sealing, you're paying for comfort that escapes. Heating/cooling is often 40–60% of your energy bill. The best, fastest-payback fix? Air sealing. Before you even touch the equipment.

4 things that separate a good heat pump installer from the rest: → A spotless install (shoe covers, real cleanup) → Real poured concrete pads → Drywall patched when needed → Temporary AC/heat so you're never left without comfort mid-install Details = the difference.

the cleanest definition of a heat pump we've found: it's an air conditioner that runs in reverse. One reversing valve, and the same machine that cools your house in July heats it in January. someone put it to us as: you wouldn't buy a car without reverse.

000

Just Heat Pumps @justheatpumps.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

the sounds that keep us going 😌🔊 concrete going down, drills running, line sets getting bent clean the poured-in-place pad shows up in customer reviews more than the equipment brand does. the details are the product.
