Since my preorders didn't pan out I wanted to stock a few desk mats in the shop anyways but I need your help choosing which ones! I have a poll over on Patreon where you can vote for your favourites. Even if you can't get one yourself, your vote is still helpful! 🙏 www.patreon.com/posts/137967...

To put it bluntly, this is a fucking disaster. For consumers, for small businesses and artists, for everybody. The US is cutting ourselves off from the rest of the world and for what?? Even if this gets sorted out or walked back, it’s going to cause a major disruption.

Oh I haven't heard of Pixpa, I'll have to look into that! And thank you so much for your input, it really means the world to me rn ♥️ I looked at Etsy pattern this afternoon too just to see where that's at and the little customization hurts me but it may have to do for now 🙃

Jushmu ✨ @jushmu.bsky.social · 26/07/2025

Ok aside from the Etsy tax nonsense I apparently buried deep and forgot about/all tax stuff aside, I'm still just wondering if anyone has downsized from Shopify and if so has it been worth it for you?

240

Jushmu ✨ @jushmu.bsky.social · 26/07/2025

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!

010

Jushmu ✨ @jushmu.bsky.social · 25/07/2025

That's fair! My accountant takes care of the tax stuff with Etsy so I think I forgot about that change and how silly it was and just thought of it taking your GST number. 🙃

010

Jushmu ✨ @jushmu.bsky.social · 25/07/2025

I mean that's totally fair! I guess my accountant has it figured out for me when it comes to Etsy and there's at least SOME tax stuff taken out in there. But an alternative like Kofi or big cartel doesn't have any Canadian tax stuff and I'm not sure if I'm missing an alternative.

100

Jushmu ✨ @jushmu.bsky.social · 25/07/2025

Just wondering if anyone else has had to make this decision lately and what's been your experience. It's just not making sense for me to have shopify and an inventory integration across both shops for ~$100cad/m. I know I can always come back to it but for now it feels like it's time to downsize 🫠

140

Jushmu ✨ @jushmu.bsky.social · 25/07/2025

Hey pals, I need some advice. Have any other artists ended up closing their shopify store (completely or temporarily) and decided to just sell on Etsy for now? I'm getting to that point where I think I need to downgrade for now and sadly Etsy is the best option (mainly for tax things in Canada).
