Strange Houses by Uketsu. Loved the interview format of its dialogue, it made the confessional narrative structure flow better than in Strange Pictures. The twists felt more shocking and the lingering theme of “misdirection by design” made it an entertaining page turner.

The ballad of Black Tom by Victor LaValle. A wonderful reimagining of the Horror of Red Hook about the true eldritch horror, systemic racism. Was rooting for Tom the entire time and happy he got to fuck up dem cops!

Loved Model Home by Rivers Solomon. a haunted house story that uses stream of consciousness to depict the intrusive thoughts and neuroticism of being in the sunken place. Haunting and comedically dark, its themes of racism, black excellency, and mental illness resonated with me on so many levels

A house is displayed in the center of a bright green background. Model home, a novel is on the top center foreground. In the bottom center foreground is the text, Rivers Solomon, Author of Sorrowland.

There is No Anti-Memetics Division by qntm. I enjoyed the first 2/3rds when chapters are structured like an SCP monster of the week. It’s simple prose becomes its own downfall in the last 1/3 when things spiral. It could’ve leaned more with its absurdist meta narrative text like House of Leaves.

A Book cover that depicts a birds eyes view of a misty pine forest with mountains looming in the horizon. There is a huge black rectangular monolith at the center of the forest. In the foreground at the bottom right is white text that says, “There Is No Antimemtics Division” and at the top right is white text of the authors name, Quantum, spelled Q N T M.

I’ve gone mad with power in Tomodatchi Life: Living the Dream. I can now make my anarchist witch society in game!!

Screenshot of Tomodatchi Life: Living the Dream with 2 mii’s in front of the ocean. The white text, “I’ve been super into killing fascists lately.” Is in the foreground.

I finally read all the short stories of Michael Wehunt’s Greener Pastures! My favorites being Greener Pastures, the October Film Haunt: Under the House, and A Thousand Hundred Years! Loved the mixture of weird horror and southern gothic, made each setting and narration so ethereal!

A picture of a Labrador retriever holding a wooden crown in the woods, behind the dog as an oak forest with white faceless creatures sticking out at the sides of the tree trunks. In the top center foreground is the book title “Greener Pastures” with the authors name, “ Michael Wehunt”. On the bottom center of the foreground is the blurb, “One of the finest debuts I’ve read in years. - Steve Rasnic Tem”

My first Denpa vn, hits the nostalgic 2000s vn vibes juuuust right. Its prose and dialogue is a bit rocky but I enjoyed the yuri coming of age story about internalizing and escaping cycles of abuse.

I finished the whodunit classic, The Decagon house Murders yesterday. A Delightful cast of quirky characters that I didn’t want anyone to be the murderer, but alas the final twist got me! Loved the banter and flow of this book. Was surprised to find out this book gets really silly.

Starting the year with “This is How You Lose the Time War”. I’m a sucker for enemies-to-lovers and witty back-n-forth banter and I sure was eating up all the purple proses. Red and Blues sapphic gestures of devouring and killing each other did make my heart flutter.
