It's a book I absolutely loved and I think you've picked up on a number of the reasons why. When my daughter was looking at American Psycho I pointed her at this instead as being way better :-)

I'm not sure how screwed we are - like they got pretty much everything they wanted at the start of trump 2 - Musk/doge, vance etc & well it all got eclipsed by trumps grifting. there comes a point were their incompetence and lack of depth undermine them (not before they do a lot of damage tho' )

Love a lot of Peakes work - his poems can be wonderful. His war experiences destroyed him I think - his daughters book 'Under a Canvas Sky" is well worth a read

I mean I know we're lucky to have it at all & I do literally owe my life to it BUT the NHS is basically fine If you are a neurotypical white cis het man - everyone else: less so (& sometimes a Lot less so) (& as a ND family with rather less men in it than was initially thought we're feeling it)

I love dancing ( not done any since I transitioned (that makes it sounds like it’s complete. Obv not)). But I was part of 90s rave stuff. Spent literally hours every week dancing my arse off. (& nearly let my gender out. I used to wear skirts and make up but never quite achieved escape velocity)

I'm just waiting for the gender abusive to get HRT for cis women in perimenopause closed down. It's already not a great service (same things we experience from them - under dosing, gatekeeping etc). My friend is already adjusting her own dosage after seeing me doing mine

I've not had a tiny probe (yet! hopefully not - hoping it all keeps working now ;-) ) & I was unconscious post cardiac arrest for the one angiogram I had & when I got to see the pictures I'd not fully come round yet :-( but yeah CAT and MRI always fun to see

yeah - had loads (had an out of hospital cardiac arrest a few years ago followed by heart bypass & I've been "investigated" a LOT - just worrying this will all stop when they work out I'm trans :-) ) the echocardiogram is no trouble at all, worst thing is wiping lube off

I think you are right on this - yeah as a 60 year old trans person I'm feeling the stress but it doesn't feel like I'm the main target. As a parent I feel like there is a massive not talked about much war against young people anyway

Not sure what country you are in. My partner/friend has not had such a good experience from the NHS. Lot of gatekeeping & lack of responsiveness. Agree on the bonding side. Lots of sharing knowledge & experience HRT should be accessible easily through drop in centres for everyone

it's shocking the state of vegetables in the supermarkets these days! but yeah scrape off the eyes and you'll be fine (I keep mine long enough to grow them anyway.) Discard if they are getting soft though or if they are really green
