JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 15/10/2026After 40 years, it sure looks a lot steeper than I remembered it. 😬 160
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 15/10/2026I did find this though. I *love" this capture of a wren taking a break from the usual wren routine. *blink ... blink blink ... blink* 170

JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Whoah! Just looked them up. Long distance travelers too. "Breeds on Arctic tundra from Alaska to Russia. Winters extensively across Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand; small numbers found in fall on west coast of U.S." 120
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Interesting day on the road. One mission to drive two miles to pick up 3 crates and deliver them to a place 12 miles away. Pick-up was scheduled for 1:00, deliver for 3:00 PM. Didn't work out that way. I've still got the stuff at 8:00 PM. Gonna try again tomorrow morning. 😒 291

JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026@laurelfynes.bsky.social Ever been to this chippy in Toronto? Just found it in the photo archives. 150
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026The place is out in the sticks, ie, you have to be trying to get there. But lots of people do and they come from all over. 020
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Here are some of them. It was kinda gloomy out and getting towards the end of the day so it's not the greatest vid capture. That said, it still means a lot to me 🙂 There weren't *that* many in the field an hour or two earlier but then groups of them started coming in to roost. Nov 17, 2018 220
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026My nomination for worst steamed potsticker ever. Has a dumpling wrapper about as delicate as a soggy catcher's mitt. 280
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Sorry for the camera work here. I'm not sure what was going on with that. In a way, it gives a good sense of what it was like to see them, ie, there were zillions of them and they just kept coming from everywhere. 170
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026#BirdOfTheDay theme for today is #Ducks&GeeseInFlight. Red-breasted mergansers over Lake Erie near the Cleveland waterfront. I'd never seen more than maybe a dozen or so at one time until that day. There were thousands! I've heard since that this is common there in the winter. Jann8, 2025 3264

JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026Passed a big flock of white-fronted geese on the way too. Only the second time I've ever seen those folks. 2101
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026As i recall, the strategy was to drop a waypoint on the GPS and then try to figure out how to get there. It was not an obvious route and took some map studying to come up with a possible solution. 140
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026This was one of the other times. I spotted this flock of snow geese from a freeway in SW Illinois towards St. Louis. Turned out to be a lot more of a challenge to figure out how to get to this spot as it involved dead reckoning using farm roads and even crossing a flooded underpass. 1110
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 11/10/2026This was one of the very few times I was driving on a highway and took the next exit to make a U-turn to get another look at something I'd passed. I didn't even know what they were at the time but knew it was a notable event of some sort. 4397

JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 10/10/2026It was literally almost right under foot on the other side of the railing. Another example of the magical kind of encounter that happens at Magee Marsh. 0142
JunkboxJim @junkboxjim.bsky.social · 10/10/2026#BirdOfTheDay today theme is #Green. I've haven't seen tons of prothonotary warblers but I've seen more than a few and it never even crossed my mind that they might have some green on them until I saw this one from above at the Magee Marsh Boardwalk. 1224
