Or playing the glitched song so often that hearing the full song is confusing.

I still order the darn things as a comfort even though most places make them entirely too sweet. But the "I'm sad and I want one" feeling always wins.

Humans do really badly when groups gang up on them. We want to be liked and part of the group and when it doesn't happen, our brains just melt down. It's horrible to experience and it's so much worse if you normally have brain goblins. Your feelings and experiences absolutely count.

You have some poor writer's dream that's supposed to inspire them to write and they got your dreams instead.

Anyone who is practical doesn't for the exact same reason. Hope the funds do as much good as you want it to.

Yes, please. More mystery with Hockey sounds absolutely captivating.

I swear Kurt Russell spent time in Wisconsin as he sounds like that in other movies, especially in the comedies. Comes and goes but it's definitely there. He really does it in Overboard with the guy playing his buddy for some reason.

That cat needs the human in daycare while it does something else. No time to supervise the human, I got something that needs doing right now.

There's always a try-hard type making everyone look bad. Can we make elk into dumplings?

Patio Curmudgeon @juniperfizz.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
Worse case, I find out their dumplings are better than mine. It's so horrible. I'll eat more dumplings to cope.

I'm convinced the hunter types just wandered out of sight and are sitting around drinking beer anyway.

We argue about who has the best dumplings while tasting those dumplings. Then we're too full of dumplings and naps break out.

Barley was our gateway to savory oatmeal. Beef with barley soup became barley with little beef turned into barley cooked in broth which led to whole oats cooked in broth. Barley and oatmeal are seriously filling and warm you up.

Learn how to make soup from scratch. Not just follow a recipe but improvise a soup from your pantry. It's just the two of us and we regularly make soup with either no leftovers or just enough for 1 meal. It's a skill and it's worth learning if you hate leftovers.

International grocery is always cheaper here on staples for that culture. Rice and beans are usually super cheap and fresh. Plus they have things that are hard to find at regular stores. Smoked ham hocks for soup, instant Pho broth, cheap peppers, etc

This shouldn't be groundbreaking or hard.

I'm pleasant and calm while thinking of murder and people just stop or back down. I suspect it's the various micro expressions I'm doing unconsciously that are doing the heavy lifting as a fellow short person. Stalking forward helps too. Move like you mean it and will knock them over if needed.

The ham and butter sandwiches from Paris haunt my dreams. I wouldn't say no to the ham and brie ones but I'd commit multiple felonies for the jambon et buerre sandwich. So simple, so good. Sigh.

There's something about the carrier and towel that seems to tell a cat that it's a way to get home. Probably because that's how they get home from the vet with humans. Sympathetic magic at work. I'm praying to Bast for her return but I've had very good luck with the method.

Kennel with a towel smelling of her person outside by the door. Detailed search opening every single thing and moving things with a flashlight check inside might draw her out as wonders what the new game is or release her. Good luck

Yes, but you have to be aggressive in your weeding if you buy more clothes and you have to replace broken hangers. Skipping either step results in unbalanced humours.

Patio Curmudgeon @juniperfizz.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Yeah, I hear that. I keep trying new authors and then random cliffhanger or part 1 or some other weird thing. I hope you find something good quickly.

www.stuffyourkindle.org If you aren't signed up, this is a fantastic way to get lots of free books. I have a minor problem with my TBR list but I find a lot of new indie authors this way.

Those are very fun. Darker take is AJ Merlin's Pleasure and Prey series. The guys are serial killers who are friends but each book is a standalone homage to slasher movies. A lighter note is SC Principale sets a bunch of their books in a village of hidden monsters who find their loves.

Patio Curmudgeon @juniperfizz.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Yeah, that's a thriller in the wrong genre. I like the ones where it's a group of guys or girls and as the series progresses, couples happen as the story moves forward. The Bangover series by Lili Valenti does that. Girls all live in the same apartment complex.

Oh yeah, it's really bad in some subgenres of Romance. Fantasy romance seems to be the worst for me but I suspect that's just marketing something as a Romance when it isn't. Contemporary and Regency seem to be the better behaved ones in the free indie book lists. Sci Fi can be hit or miss.

I keep having the same problem with free books. I've been rejecting anything that is part of a series that doesn't say standalone or has a comment mentioning cliffhanger. It's really annoying.

You got to balance the conferences though. Or Quebec City is now in the West, which seems mean. Moving the Devils or the Rangers to Denver seems like it would cause a lot of suffering and balance the conferences. Houston couldn't even keep their AHL team alive.

Patio Curmudgeon @juniperfizz.bsky.social · 22/08/2026
If you send the Nordiques back to Quebec, does this mean that they also go into the Eastern Conference? Does Denver get one of the extra Metro Division teams?

I do know. I also remember the astroturfing done on Tumblr for Brexit. It starts with benign accounts barely used until they flip.
021
Patio Curmudgeon @juniperfizz.bsky.social · 19/08/2026
No you're not cynical. You start making accounts now for use a couple months to years from now for propaganda or fraud purposes. A little late for midterms, a little early for 2028, and who knows about the fraud timeline.

It's only a six hour nap and messes with my sleep schedule so bad that I don't see my spouse for a week. It is nice though to just wake up, with my head still hurting, eat food, and then collapse back into sleep.

That is a very tempting thing to tip off to the health inspector or whoever can talk sense into them. You need a permit to do catering around here because it's dangerous.

Argh, I really don't need the idea that sudden fatigue is an aura. I just figured out most of mine are weather/barometer related and little nap helps make them clear out faster. Something new to dig into.

I also don't drive so delivery of heavy things is so important to my quality of life. I don't want to do a daily trip for heavy stuff on a bus, with transfers, in the summer and it's an absolute horror show in winter.

My spouse is absolutely forbidden, on the pain of going to more family things, from calling the one dude, Pope Nazi. I might let the spouse use Pope Palpatine instead.

Fluff isn't really cozy though. It's more of a pointless cute scene or series of connected pointless cute scenes. Cozy feels small and safe. Low stakes and minor angst sort of thing.

The sound of the train is home. BNSF main line about 4 blocks away and it's so soothing at night.
