I have this little cynical thought that while capitalism is about selling shit, the ending overall goal is control. So, yes, it would be an excuse to sell more shit, but that would be selling what you want, not what they want to sell you.

followup to dream phone design, took some ideas from people I liked. It's not designed for everyone but it's designed for me specifically and I'm mad it doesn't (and will likely never) exist

a sketch design for a smartphone
Has: De-googled OS, 60hrzm 64gb storage, 5 inch display, 1080p, OLED screen, plastic body, bluetooth, widgets, rubber corners, two programmable buttons, single hinge camera that flips up for selfies, removable battery, headphone jack, USBC charging, loop in corner for charms, SD memory slot, and clear plastic back so you can put in your own design or something idk

Does not have: AI, face recognition, turn-on on lift, mandatory updates

Talking about AI is such a double edged sword bc there’s always retaliation in the form of generating my artwork without consent. Like yay you sure showed me, generating my shit to be uglier in response to me saying that AI relies on thievery. You will leave no meaningful legacy behind

Been finding my art being stolen for some anime AI generators recently and I’m just so tired. Who needs drinkable water when you can generate more soulless anime waifus!! All in a style that’s a mere facsimile of my own!! Wow! You’re so amazing!

Patreon, absolutely the fuck not. YOU were the ones who decided that we had to give Apple that money. Apple imposed their stupid claim, and it was YOU who decided to force every single creator on your platform to acquiesce to it. YOU did that. Fuck off with this pretend powerlessness.

not tagging her b/c I don't want to pile anything into her replies, but I have noted that THE most common kind of comment on my last video is some version of "thank god, finally a video that isn't just recycling praise/criticism!" Which... maybe speaks to the media environment around this show...

Screenshot of posts by Vivienne M reading: "No matter what your opinion is on media, it's important you make it yourself. I've stopped watching video essays because the bias on display dictates opinion. A lot of channels steal points they didn't create themselves or follow negative opinion because it's the accepted or better financial option." and "When something is made in bad faith, or based most of its points of assumed intent by creators it just creates a faulty narrative. Not all media is for everyone and it's important to engage with it. Or don't. But just like politics, form your own opinions, please."

stay close to me • hi i’m back into my HTTYD phase in the year 2025, and wanted to draw Hiccup and Toothless cuddling so: here we are ✨ #httyd #howtotrainyourdragon #hiccuphaddock #httydhiccup #httydtoothless #hicctooth #toothcup

A drawing of Toothless and Hiccup from the film series How to Train Your Dragon, set sometime after the 2nd movie. Toothless is curled up sleeping with a front paw wrapped around Hiccup, who is also sleeping against Toothless. Hiccup’s on his left side and his back is to Toothless’ face, while his arms cling to the paw wrapped around him, and his knees are pulled up in sort of a fetal position. His mouth is slightly opened in a peaceful expression while he sleeps. Hiccup only wears a long green tunic, and isn’t wearing his prosthetic leg, so his scarred stump is visible. Toothless isn’t wearing his saddle or tail prosthetic either, with his tail fin curling into the foreground. They are indoors, sleeping on a blanket covering the wooden floor, painted with soft warm lighting.

there's so much to talk about with the choices made here animation-wise. controls are often not all exactly in sync with the frame they're on, in a way that emulates early 90s stop motion, like the really rough shit. Like the animators were told not to worry about that or crashing or breaking rigs

to me, “you should create for yourself” and “you deserve to be acknowledged for what you make” are two statements that should coexist. chasing engagement will rot your soul, while being neglected will see your passion wither. loving what you make is a failsafe for when the engagement never comes.
