I was having a bad day yesterday. I got to work and ducked in to get love from Whiskey the Orange cattle dog, who jumped to see me as soon as he heard my voice and then gave me a headbutt and some kisses as soon as I got into his room. My job has the best perks

My newest babe, the love of my life, and chungus supreme is my orange boy Blaze. As much as I love and adore dogs, I’m a cat person at heart. Blaze’s humans of 10 years surrendered him 💔, and I met him at a feeders, put in an application on my phone, and brought him home the next day.

Miss Daisy Mae is my old girl, at 11 years old. She’s been in my life since she was about 9 months old (she lived with my mother for a span) and is mostly rat terrier (my heart breed) but is big for a rat. I like Doc, she loves water and turns into a 1 year old again any time she can swim.

Doc is a 3ish year old mutt. He’s got the vocal dramatics of a beagle (and some light brown patches) so we’re pretty sure that’s in there somewhere. He’s a rambunctious cuddle bug whose likes include being wherever you are and chicken and his dislikes are trailers and water.

Hahaha, gotta make sure these sweeties get back to their humans, I just get to help them feel loved while they’re apart. We do work with a local shelter and provide some space for them but I’ve got a full house with two dogs, two cats and two humans at the moment

Pay wise… it’s not bad. I’m not really in it to get rich, I’d have stayed in restaurant management if that were the case. I’m also in a lower wage area (and an advocate for a much higher minimum wage) so my idea of “not bad” is probably different than most…

The prices others have mentioned are fairly standard depending on amenities offered. My workplace has various levels of private suites for extended stays (no crates or “kennels,” all private rooms) and add on treats and services. We also have a daycare and “private daycation” option.

Life Update: I’m finally employed again. And I’m getting paid to play with dogs all day. I accepted a position as a shift lead at a pet boarding facility. I started this week. I’m so sore but I’ve gotten an incalculable amount of puppy kisses… it’s so worth it.

Played two games at my shops “Girls Game Night” as my debut back to in person commander (it’s been 3+ years since I’ve played someone I wasn’t teaching how to play) and fared better than I expected given my sabbatical. Tana/Jeska did gross things, and Sveylun played Queen Maker. Fun was had!

She won round 1, Rootha v Primo. Switched to Zimone for round 2, and she scooped when I was at 76 life with Zimone w/ 18 counters, a 7/7 Goldvein Hydra, 26/26 Hydroid Krasis and a able to reliably cast for X=25+ each turn… this deck is gross when it pops…

I’m new to brackets and still trying to establish how to pre-game with this in mind when I get back to a table but I do think some of the parameters can be contraindicated or somewhat arbitrary, and I hope I’m not alone in that or missing something.

I have run various combos in decks that still only ever pushed turn 8-10 wins. It feels hard to put decks like Tana/Jeska or Linden into a bracket, T/J -can- push a t5, t6 win, but there’s not enough consistency to do it regularly. Linden can combo, but it’s rarely game ending, just threat making

This thread is very interesting, especially since I’m coming back to the game from before the bracket system was a thing and am still unsure how I feel about it as a very casual goofy player. Where I struggle is when combos interact with turn counts, because they are not always congruent.
