August’s #kidlitartpostcard ☀️ 🌐 juncostudio.com ✉️ hello@juncostudio.com I wanted this one to feel bright, playful, and a little nostalgic — like a hot beach day seen through giant sunglasses. 0301
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 27/07/2026Revisiting an old favorite! 🌿 Over ten years ago, I created my Botanical Lettering collection—one illustration for each letter. Now, I’m exploring new ways to bring these hand-painted designs to life through stationery and gifts. Here’s a sneak peek of a mockup! 030

I've been thinking a lot about character development—not just how a character looks, but how they hold themselves, what they care about, and the small relationships that begin to appear on the page. 011

Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 02/06/2026Character development for a new picture book sample. I started with pencil sketches on paper, scanned them, and then brought them into Procreate to explore color, texture, and the feeling between the characters. 021
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 29/05/2026A little peek at Mizu’s evolution across the pages. I love watching a character shift from one moment to another — the same child, but with a different breath, mood, and light each time. From quiet nerves to underwater wonder. 🌊 011
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 14/05/2026I tried bringing another picture book illustration to life ☀️ the kind of scene that feels ordinary until you realize you’ll probably miss it later 000

Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 28/04/2026I tried turning one of my picture book illustrations into a reel 🌊 just floating, soft water moving around, bubbles slowly rising nothing really happens, but kinda makes you want to stay here a little longer 161
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 23/04/2026Expanding a moment from last month. I started with a single image, and now I’m slowly building the space, the people, and what’s happening around them. Still in progress, but I like seeing the story unfold this way 030
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 20/04/2026I tried animating one of my old illustrations 🌸 just a soft breeze, flowers swaying a little, her hair moving with the wind nothing really happens, but… Spring kinda makes you want to live like this 020
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 17/04/2026I took a postcard illustration from last month and started building a bigger story around it. Lately I’ve been thinking about: – where the eye goes – what’s happening in time – little traces of an action Trying to make images feel less like a setup, and more like a moment. 010

Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 25/03/2026Morning scene. A mom getting her child ready to school. It's busy, but a small everyday moment I wanted to capture. I'm interested in these kinds of quiet, ordinary situations and how they feel. Working on a new piece for #kidlitartpostcard. Still in progress. 1110
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 17/03/2026Working on new spreads for my picture book. This is the stage of painting the characters on the paper before scanning. Exploring movement, light, and the quiet connection between characters. Still in progress, but I'm starting to the rhythm of the story take shape. 021
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 12/03/2026Small mornings, big love. I’ve been practicing drawing full scenes lately — not just characters, but the little objects and spaces around them. It’s starting to feel like the room is coming alive. 261

Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 05/11/2025I created this artwork 5 years ago. The concept was inspired by the graphic novel style, featuring divided spaces. It narrates a story, yet it doesn't resemble a comic. It was made using colored pencils. I think I should be capable of working with paint now. 010
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 31/10/2025"Pumpkin Popper" is an illustration that blends the classic imagery of a jack-o'-lantern with a whimsical twist, bringing a playful spirit. 040
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 23/10/2025This character was created three years ago, and I came across it while browsing through my Procreate library. At the time, I thought I sucked this for some reason. Looking at it now, though, it seems solid to me. Maybe there’s a chance for me to explore a future in character design? 010
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 14/10/2025When crafting a composition, create the balance of negative and positive space while guiding the viewer's gaze across the canvas. Even the simplest visuals can become a sense of depth and intrigue. I hope I can draw backgrounds next time too 010

Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 30/09/2025Last week in my sketchbook - I've been focused on developing for illustrating backgrounds, and I'm glad to see my progress unfold. 000
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 25/09/2025I'm very excited to be working on a new idea with @sayuri.stabrowski inspired by this little witch I created last fall for @redfoxliterary promo 000
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 23/09/2025First I only used the colored pencils. It's mystery how I was able to paint the stuff with the paint brush. The creative process is adventure, and even if it's not a direct practice, it improves your overall skills. So it feels like one day you suddenly find the way 020
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 18/09/2025For creating characters, I portray their personality and story through their physical features and gestures. The main character is a shy girl, but she becomes more active and confident later. I used different skin tones, facial expressions, and poses. The grandmother is a strong, independent woman. 000

Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 16/09/2025I made a reel of the sketchbook process. It's a very simple editing work, and I made it just to try it out, but it turned out good. I've made two reels so far, and I think I might actually enjoy making reels. Next time, I'd like to learn a little more about how to film. 020
Junco @junconagano.bsky.social · 10/09/2025Sketch book tour - These were drawn over a year ago, and I think they have changed compared to my current sketchbook. Now I enjoy creating designs that use a lot of shapes and lines on the pages 030
