3.5 star Letterboxd review of Eddington (2025) stating:

The guy next to me started snoring at the very beginning of the movie and was snoring louder than the movie audio for about 45 minutes until he finally snored hard enough so that he no longer sounded like he was doing an impression of a comedically loud snore. When he finally woke up, he spent most of the rest of the movie fiddling with his reclining seat (also louder than the movie) before leaving the movie ~10 minutes before it ended.

Despite all that I somehow managed to kinda enjoy the movie which probably then deserves a higher rating for achieving such an incredible feat. Quite the rollercoaster!

Wicked (2024)

Rewatched Jul 15, 2025

“Rewatched after reading the Wicked novel for the first time. Interesting to compare the two so some things that stood out:
Aside from the obvious trimming/changing of detail, there's definitely a lot of nuance lost.
The bi erasure is wild! Like at least there was some bi lighting but mostly while, like, Boq and Nessarose were flirting or some other straight couple.
Elphaba is also so much more cheery and naive in the film than in the book- generally just a very different character. In the book, she's also explicitly atheist and anti-establishment/ authoritarianism (i.e. anti-Wizard) when she's at Shiz as well as visits the Wizard; the movie has her say stuff like "Thank Oz" which would make book-Elphaba laugh/spit in her face.
All that to say still a good adaptation... of an adaptation... of an adaptation....
P.S.: this is also post-seeing Cynthia Erivo perform at WorldPride last month and I'm still salty that she didn't perform a single Wicked song”

a revolutionary cultural touchstone. though a large majority of the people featured in this film did not survive their queer street lives (mostly from HIV/AIDS), their spirits undoubtedly live on every time someone watches the film. this was my first rewatch, and the spiritual connection i felt to the ball participants, to the music, and to the moment was and is undeniable. Paris Is Burning is a living testament to the preciousness of experiencing queer joy for just a few hours or even a only few minutes in a day and the power that it instills in us as queer people to survive even the most horrific of circumstances, even if that survival is destined to be short-lived.
