Got to screen 'Steel: The Blood Of Us' 35mm print this eve (plus Q&A with director Joe Cornick and composer Ben Doherty). Interesting film, lovely folk, check it out. Now touring throughout the UK on 35mm at select sites with Q&As […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

A metal box concealing a 35mm print of 'Steel: The Blood Of Us' sits on a rewind bench in a projection booth. Beneath the bench are a number of empty film reels

A film can of 'Steel: The Blood Of Us' sits atop the metal box in which it was delivered in a brightly lit projection booth

A view from inside the projection booth looking towards the projector and porthole as 'Steel: The Blood Of Us' 35mm print runs through a 35mm Prevost projector (thankfully, the somewhat precarious lace up path is out of sight to the left). Looking through the porthole (centre image) the film can be seen on screen, while a laptop and sound desk (on the right of the image) add some ambient light to the otherwise darkened booth

'It's a Jurassic Park print! I know this!' One of the earliest and greatest films I saw as a youngster on the big screen, and now an amazing opportunity to handle and project it 33 years later. Playing at Showroom Cinema Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

A short sequence of 35mm frames from a classic '90s Jurassic Park print in which a clever girl, Lex (Ariana Richards) soon realises the computer in front of her (running an early 3D graphical user interface) is a Unix system. She knows this.

Close up of a complete print of Jurassic Park on 35mm, ready for playback from a platter system. The print label reads "Jurassic Park / Flat / SR / 7 reels / pulsed" denoting the film title, projection ratio, sound type, reel number, and automation markers respectively

Close up of a 35mm film can of an original Jurassic Park print from Rank Film Laboratories from over 30 years ago. The worn and faded label informs us this is a colour print with Dolby sound and has a copyright and distribution warning in small red text beneath

A short sequence of 35mm frames showing much of the main cast gather around a giant steaming pile of dinosaur excrement that sits atop a grassy plain. From left to right surrounding the merde mound is: Grant (played by the late Sam Neil), Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), a park ranger (uncredited?), and Ellie (Laura Dern) as they all look on with varying degrees of interest in the faecal profundity before them.

Had a great opening weekend of The Odyssey on 35mm (despite some issues with our platter system which are thankfully fixed, so no shows missed and plenty more to come). The print looks beautiful and can't wait to actually see it in screen and not running it! […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

An edited still from the film Hackers, stating 'Showroom Cinema Presents', followed by the characters Razor and Blade holding a laptop which says 'Hackers'. To the right of this is an overlay of a retro 3D film poster of the hacker crew with a badge on saying 'win me', beneath which is terminal text stating the date and time of the event at Showroom Cinema
