@jennaprice.bsky.social writes about UTS, MQ & higher ed in general. In the discipline I teach, Politics&IR, we are losing half our units &staff despite strong student #s and growth. Other disciplines face cuts. Diversity is under attack. Student options reduced and PhDs will lose supervisors. see👇

Politics, Sociology, Ancient History, majors in Media, Music may be decimated @ MQ. 4/8 Politics staff with no more Politics units. 11/14 Sociologists to be axed. Ancient History recently the jewel in the MQ crown is being destroyed. This is beyond save Arts & SS @ MQ. Thank you @auspsa.bsky.social

UNSW NTEU passed two important motions: 1. opposing the UA working definition of antisemitism, a racist & dangerous definition 2. solidarity with Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah & condemning Education Minister’s political interference in ARC independence Motions passed w 96% majority.
