Honestly. I didn’t use them in law school or in undergrad/grad school, but between making my own and the Critical Pass cards, they’ve been great. I’m not even testing rote memory, I’m just making sure I get the gist and can talk about the topic.

It’s just so much better for me to relate to real case. Unavailable witness? Yeah. Had one that died two years ago. He was also an expert witness. Two sets of rules right there! Actually, the case i’m referencing hit almost every rule of civil procedure possible. Easy review.

Less than a week before the bar and I’m finding talking through my flash cards with my (attorney) partner to be far more effective than anything else I’ve been doing. But I gotta get to that 75% on Themis in case I don’t pass. Dammit.

My mother: how did you turn out so woke after everything I did? Me: you sent me to school with progressive catholic nuns, I hung out at the library, you gave me internet access in 1992 and dad watched Star Trek with me. WHAT DID YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN?!

You can and should point out that police killing people daily is the "norm" in America. But that doesn't mean you *accept* the normalization of this violence and the way some people rush to smugly point these things out contributes to collective fatigue. Your horror has been stolen from you.

Agreed. I believe teaching language arts not for, you know, the good of humanity and growing as people, but instead so someone can pass a test is also a factor. Reading and writing isn’t positioned as something that is enjoyable and worthwhile, but a chore that is to be games.

After years of marketing ebooks and being chronically online, doing legal work has reminded me that paper has its purpose, as I have an actual copy of the Blue Book next to me, and I realized I should probably print out and highlight a trial transcript. Sorry trees.

The cop who sued me (also in Ohio) included in his complaint that he was called a “limp dicked piece of shit” by a codefendant. I assure you that got mentioned in court several times and had the case not been dismissed, the team would have delighted in that line of questioning.

Here are the alleged defamatory statements in the #Afroman case. Many, if not most, are clearly opinion. Police are also public figures under Ohio law. It is also perfectly legal to call a cop a white supremacist in Ohio. See: Olthaus v. Niesen, 2023-Ohio-4710, 232 N.E.3d 932 (Ct. App.)

9th Cir. affirms a preliminary injunction blocking Montana's ban on drag story hour at schools or libraries that receive state funding and its more general ban on drag shows as likely violations of the First Amendment. cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov/datastore/op...
Montana House Bill 359 (H.B. 359) restricts statutorily defined “drag story hours” and “sexually oriented performances.” Violations of H.B. 359 are subject to criminal and civil penalties. Plaintiffs are individuals, nonprofits, theaters, and other organizations. They bring a pre-enforcement challenge to H.B. 359, contending the statute violates their First Amendment right to freedom of speech and their Fifth Amendment due process right, both facially and as applied to their speech. Defendants are Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen and Montana Superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen. The district court granted Plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction, enjoining Defendants from instituting, maintaining, or prosecuting any enforcement proceedings under H.B. 359. Defendants timely appealed. We conclude that Plaintiffs have Article III standing to bring their claims, and the district court did not abuse its discretion by issuing the preliminary injunction. Accordingly, we affirm.
