I hope we keep writing docs for people who want to understand and build things without using AI.

PDSes actually make backing up app data less crucial. When I migrated Glean to Cloudflare, I used a fresh db, let the system backfill and easily grabbed the articles read status from the old db. That's it. Sure it does not apply to all kind of appviews, but the fact it is possible is great!

Big frontend overhaul of @glean.at coming. I have been playing with Svelte and that will replace the Go template + htmx frontend, making the surface to maintain for the upcoming @repebble.com app and Xteink app (so two months ago I know) smaller :) This should open the way for a mobile app too!

Nuclear opinion: I don’t care if you use AI to write code,¹ but making a human review a change before an LLM is disrespectful. Why am I catching your bugs if a computer could have done it? It’s like asking to review code that doesn’t compile or pass CI. ¹ As long as you do it responsibly.

New day, new product on the Atmosphere. Launching glean.at a Social RSS Reader on @atproto.com. What does it mean? - Your RSS reader becomes connected to your social graph. - See what people like you read, like or annotate - Discover feeds or articles you wouldn't have known before

One of reason I love atproto: tangled.org/did:plc:rgvl... The upcoming social rss reader I am working on can simply ingest @margin.at annotations and display them nicely alongside its own annotations. Same thing goes obviously for the social graph.

Support `at.margin.annotation` #1
Next to `at.glean.annotation` we should ingest and display `at.margin.annotation` ref: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:web:lexicon.store/com.atproto.lexicon.schema/at.margin.annotation

We're posting this to reach someone at Wired who can pause this and have it handled with the appropriate care it needs. Sourcing an article about GrapheneOS from a person who has spent years trying to harm us and is losing a legal battle including having to withdraw these claims makes no sense.

Made a small update to this because the listRepo endpoint on knot haven't been accepted. Instead the UI just accepts an handle and get the records from the PDS. In hindsight it should have been the UX from day 1 :p. bsky.app/profile/juli... knotview.srv.rbrt.fr #tangled

Today, we’re excited to introduce Attie, currently as an invite-only closed beta. Attie is the first agentic social app on atproto. It’s something completely new — an experiment in making building on the protocol more accessible.

I love exotic websites, so I rewritten my full Go + WASM (via Vecty) personal website (julien.rbrt.fr) to @standard.site lexicons and some custom rendering: tangled.org/julien.rbrt..... I have to admit it feels way more hacky, but now I can say my website lives on my PDS! #atdev #atproto

I had too much fun this weekend building TalkToThem. It is effectively like the Gylfole AI bot from Silicon Valley serie talktothem.app. Works with Signal and WhatsApp: github.com/julienrbrt/t... Bonus it won't crash your network.

/rant Turns out Bluesky is the most annoying AppView to get working when developing a new PDS implementation. Surprisingly other AppViews are way easier to integrate and do not rely on constant re-authentication. #atdev

Been diving deep into PDS and AtProto lately, it was really fun and it's finally brought Vow to life. Think of it as a BYOK (bring-your-own-key) PDS. Why? Because standard PDSes sign repo changes, which means a malicious instance could potentially post as you.

Deeper in the #atproto BYOK PDS rabbit hole, and it isn't looking pretty because of `verificationMethods.atproto`. We cannot get a great UX because it is way too spammy, creating that service auth token is done a lot of times. The PDS should be able to create the service auth token with its own key.

Started building Vow, a new PDS implementation based on Cocoon (tangled.org/hailey.at/co...), it is quite fun. It has quite (cool) features: - BYOK - Signing via EVM wallet - Repo data and blobs stored on IPFS (instead of being stored in the PDS's db) - IPFS pinning possible via x402

Time for my big year end blogpost about the Atmosphere. From the personal computing perspective, the cloud has been a disaster — but we shouldn't run away from it. We can solve a lot of problems by connecting our clouds, turning it into atmospheric computing.

Finally got my framework 16 laptop! After a year running an m2 max mbp 16 with fedora asahi, it feels great to be back to a matte screen and a better linux experience. Asahi was amazing but a classic Fedora experience on a laptop that supports linux perfectly is still nicer.
