Our nation's largest egg producers ran an illegal scheme to manipulate the market and raise egg prices to squeeze more profit out of consumers and businesses. We secured $3.3 million and 50 million eggs from these companies for food banks and organizations across the nation.

I'm suing Puppy Boutique in Brooklyn after they illegally sold puppies to New Yorkers, exposing them to exorbitant veterinary bills for animals raised in inhumane puppy mills.   I'll continue to ensure that animals are healthy and protected, and that abusive breeders are stopped.

Absolutely, all of those! And new nuclear is too far in the future, too uncertain to deliver, too expensive and too costly for the economy to contribute to any of the above. bsky.app/profile/juli...

The scientists, indigenous peoples, academics, youth, teachers, ecologists, physicists, civil society, leaders and campaigners advocated measures to tackle global environmental problems and climate crisis at the Rio Earth Summit 1992. Should’ve changed course then. Yet still there’s opposition!

I have an area growing in the garden with sweet scabious, creeping buttercup, oxeye daisy, herb robert, yellow rattle, white clover, nigella, daisy, dandelion and cats ears with wild marjoram nearby. Can’t wait to see it in full bloom. Does anyone have a similar mix and have a photo in full flower?

Nuclear sits in the background, enjoying subsidies which any other industry or technology could only dream of. Meanwhile, we maintain fossil fuel generation and vulnerability to price spikes as the alternatives to FFs and nukes are delayed. bsky.app/profile/juli...

No book is going to turn kids into someone else. But books will regularly show kids other people like them and show those kids they're not alone. And they'll show kids other types of people who also exist. There is a large proportion of the population who are terrified of this.

We really should protect chalk stream trout, badgers and hedgehogs, and regenerate liveable inner cities and towns. Instead we’re building new homes on farmland used by wildlife and releasing sewage into chalk streams. And building boxes as a poor imitation wealth store + global reserve currency.

It is possible to go palm oil free. Food without it tastes infinitely better & I feel the health benefits. And I don’t want to contribute to tropical deforestation. It’s a new addition to western diet. In the tropics it’s used - fresh - in specific dishes

Can argue it’s not NMW which makes businesses & jobs unviable. It’s all the other taxes & costs of operating, plus jobs replaced by automation. NMW means dignity and a job which pays a living wage. It’s still too often unenforced. Zero hrs contracts still lead to exploitative working conditions.

The property bubble is already here and building more releases carbon as soils are disturbed, ecosystems are lost and embedded in materials. The AI bubble is already here. Data ctrs use vast amounts of energy. The carbon bubble is a risk and it’s already here.

In response to quotes about inexperienced 17yo: If the job exists (AI dependent), and they want to work, they’ll apply That 17yo will be employed often because the work is low paid, low status, low skilled, basic. Few others apply if no reason to do so. Often zero hours so NMW won’t even apply

Because NMW doesn’t apply in the same way in a zero hours contract and is effectively impossible to enforce, NMW cannot be the deciding factor in unemployment rate. Other factors therefore at play. Highly-paid commentators are wrong and seem to demonstrate a blind spot here.

With or without Nat min wage, many ppl’s wages are topped up by in-work welfare. Effectively a direct transfer from taxpayers to low-paying employers. Young ppl not finding a job with decent-pay may be incentivised to enhance their skills. AI + taxes + operating costs killing prospects, not NMW.

A higher minimum wage won’t eliminate exploitative work conditions, nor gig economy, but it will push wages up slightly & help make jobs ~more real. Enforcement needed, but isn’t perfect. Large employers regularly identified as breaching minimum wage, structurally or as a product of adding hours.

lobbyists on x, exercised about min.wage, really are something else. Low wages are topped up by welfare. Many young ppl are in FT ed., training, unemployed or on welfare anyway so will benefit those who *do* work, at any age. Incentivises real work and better job opps. bsky.app/profile/juli...

U.S. spends roughly $300 billion a year on social safety nets -SNAP, Medicaid, housing assistance, child care subsidies & more, for employed Americans. Those aren't "handouts" subsidizing "lazy" people. They're handouts subsidizing employers who pay poverty wages. Quote: @darrigomelanie.bsky.social

Eso de empezar a construir un central atómico hace trece años y después empezar a construir otro central atómico y pagar por el primero con los gastos facturados por el segundo, ¿eso funcionaría bien en un país moderno que utilice mucha luz?
