It’s officially October, and you know what that means? We have a whole new theme. This October will be The Salem Witch Hunts. Starting with a mini-primer from historian Margo Burns (a direct descendent of Rebecca Nurse), this month promises a whole lot of great movies and even better guests!

Is it the mutant mole people? Is that the problem?

A few more rewatches than usual this month, but some great surprises among my new watches. 🥇 Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical (2024) 🥈 The Bat (1959) Honorable mention: The Fly (1980) *Hungarian short film, not the Cronenberg classic, which wouldn't have been #FirstTimeWatch letterboxd.com/jseltzer/

I think it’s fair to say that the student journalists at Cornell are braver than the news networks who just gave up on their WH pool ban even though CNN is still being denied access. www.cornellsun.com/article/2026...

For those following along with @murdermfiction.bsky.social, today's the last episode for "Bonnie & Clyde" month. While watching through the films, I've been charting out each film's quality versus its historical accuracy. Definitely a surprise for which movie scored the highest for factualness.

Grid showing the factual accuracy (x-axis) versus its filmic quality (y-axis).

I wish I had been able to go in more blind. It had been very hyped up, and I knew some of the twists. I like the 2nd-half of a lot more. Even though I watched it at night (with the lights off & a popcorn bowl) I'm not sure I found it that frightening. Although there's certainly some macabre scenes
