Sharing this link because I believe in the sentiment, but also so we can see the hero who disarmed one of the Bondi gunmen has a Middle Eastern name. I hope this will do something to combat incipient racism caused by this terrible incident. petitions.getup.org.au/petitions/ah...

Very classy mash up of real-life criminal cases given a waspy Jane Austin framing - Julia Miller hits the right note for cosy, cackling crime
Could you tell us about your story in one sentence? An absurdist coming of age story about a hapless young man and a beleaguered pig on the run.

Sunday is Mother's Day in the UK. To celebrate, I've written a new Crime and Prejudice story entitled "The Importance of Being Wickham". The story is set in Regency England and the word "handbag" wasn't in use, so practise saying in your most outraged tone, "A reticule!" dl.bookfunnel.com/7f2ar969d1

Did you know that the Ukrainian word for ‘suit’ sounds like the English word ‘costume’? The ones wearing costumes at the White House meeting with Zelenskyy were the two clowns* who attacked him. (*Substitute your own word - the more creative the better.) And here’s another leader without a suit.

Fresh from my excitement at hearing from Mr Bingley (aka Crispin Bonham-Carter), I’ve written a blog post about smuggling in Jane Austen’s time. There's a link in my blog to free story about Mr Bingley’s imagined brush with smugglers. julialmiller.net/blog/smuggli...
Mr Bingley from the BBC 1995 series of Pride and Prejudice. He's a cheerful young man with curly brown hair and a big smile, wearing Regency clothes. Head and shoulders in this photo. White shirt with the collar poking out above a brown coat. A deserted beach with cliffs in the background and some old, tall houses in the foreground. The nearest house is white and I think it's Georgian. There are some barrels on the beach that suggest smugglers have left casks of rum.

I've heard that it's good for authors to share pictures of everyday activities, like baking, so people can relate to them more. I hope there are a few others whose cakes aren't always perfect. On the plus side, cakes that fall apart yield more broken pieces that I just have to eat myself. 😄
Image shows four small cakes in a tin. They are nicely browned, with a couple of blueberries in the top of each one, but they are quite crumbly and look like they will disintegrate if you pick them up - which, in fact, they will!

All artists love good reviews! “[Crime and Prejudice] is an absolute treat! It perfectly captures the wit, charm, and eccentricities of Austen’s characters. The humor is both clever and uproarious, with the characters’ scandals and misunderstandings making for plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.”
Mrs Bennet from the 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice series. She has her mouth wide open in humorous alarm, and a strange gleam in her eyes. She is wearing a white lace cap and collar with a pale green, slightly shiny dress, and is seated in a drawing room.
