felt the primal urge to put her in short hair & a dress she never wears before maint #gpose | #elezen

a portrait photo taken in final fantasy 14 of the back of my character Julianne- a tall, muscular elezen woman with draconic features. she's wearing a red off-shoulder dress with lace and frills to accent her arms and a black studded leather belt around her waist.

she's very Indepedent M!Elezen, i think. very terse. each quote punctuated with the meanest glare you've ever received. #JulianneLore

a serious of quotes made by the Independent Male Elezen retainer in ffxiv.

"I am come to conduct business, and only business."
"You interrupt my task. Why?"
"You wish to hear my report?"
"As you wish."
"I have work to do."
"Good. I prefer to work alone."
"I trust you have no complaints? Good."

i still haven't done island sanctuary but if i did it'd be for these #gpose | #elezen

a photo taken in final fantasy xiv, given shader effects and editing through reshade + darktable. it's a very simple pose of my character Julianne, standing with her hands on her hips. most focus is given to her ass and thighs here, with sunset light hugging her legs and reflecting off her thigh and tail scales.

#JulianneLore she used to be fairly tall for an elezen (almost max height but not quite). since drinking dragon's blood, she's just about the biggest person in any room she walks into, rivaling many roegadyn at 7'2". she's quite conflicted about it!

a portrait photo taken in final fantasy xiv, a comparison between a rash elezen knight on the left and her future self, a disaffected draconic warrior, on the right. they both stand together, hands on their hips, in the middle of a decorate stonework plaza in Ishgard.

the knight, a red-haired elezen woman in scale mail armor, hoists a large claymore over her shoulder, hooking the crossguard such that the massive blade is able to rest against her pauldron-clad shoulder. she's looking at you like shit, a furrowed brow and a sneer.

it's a strange contrast against the forlorn warrior, who stares through you with tired eyes. she's dressed in a grey sleeveless gambeson that displays her larger, muscular arms, a silver greatsword harnessed against her back. a thick plated tail rests behind her, just barely dragging along the ground.

hi i just saw the portrait you did of my friend's character and i think it's really wonderful!!! i wanted to offer my lady Julianne to help fill out your month a bit more!! ^-^ she's very grouchy and stubborn- i'd say she aligns best with earth but i could also see fire or metal as backups.

yeah!!! while the messy, long bangs & ponytail (first photo) is her sort of signature look, she's got a design with a short curly bob too ☺️ i also messed around with a hair mod recently that's about the same length as her normal ponytail but is more combed back and loose!

the new borderless art variant for the card Giada, Font of Hope. it depicts a young white angel woman in a dark blue knee-length ruffled dress, soaring up in the air on wispy rainbow energy wings.

also hey! here's a few in-progress edits up through the final piece! figured i took enough breaks in between working on this one, may as well share 'em all. lots of details in the alt text!

iteration #1 - just taken in gpose, nothing else added. this is the version of the shot with some light depth of field added, three other shots were taken in gpose. one without depth of field, one with a chromakey to more easily cut julianne's outline, and one with just the background elements/no julianne.

iteration #2 - first pass at adding in shadows, highlights, and a bit of face detailing. some bits touched up with transform brushes. there was a bit of shine reflecting off one of the bottles behind her hair that i thought was too distracting, so i brushed it out.

iteration #3 - finished in clip studio paint. i remembered that the Level Correction tool exists. added a bit of additional rim lighting and brightened the piece up. i was pretty happy with the face detailing in iteration #2, all i had left to do was define her eyebags a little more.

final piece! all that's left in my workflow after finishing in csp is taking it to darktable for some finishing processing touches. added light film grain. cropped the piece to 16:10. layered on two additional LUTs meant to emulate film stock (Fuji Astia 100 Generic @ 60% to get the reds and yellows more bold, Polaroid 690 Cold 3 @ 20% to add some blue to the shadows). added a vignette, some minor bloom, upped the exposure a little, and color corrected a bit.

important information btw. celebrate wielding a sword bigger than your girltheyfriend

and here's a before -> after! always making her more severe. at some point i gotta just figure out face decals for her eyebags instead of drawing them in every time! also didn't want her tail to be muddied against the dark browns of the bartop. bits of highlights and rim lighting go a long way!

the same photo as in the original post, but without any of the photo editing. the contrast is much higher, with additional highlights and shadows airbrushed in. julianne's face is without the added detail that would give her that pissed off look.

do you like your lady knights being shown love and adoration

a repost of a photo i took late last year (hi sorry i've been in kind of a slump recently and haven't been taking too many photos).

a full body portrait of two final fantasy xiv characters sharing a tender moment. a miqo'te dressed in earthern tones stands in the center frame; with their hands, they embrace the uncertain visage of their kneeling partner, an draconic elezen knight woman. surrounding them are warm autumnal trees amidst bright sunlight, which the miqo'te almost fades into while the elezen's silver armor stands stark against.

juli~ @juli-elle.northsky.social · 02/09/2026

oh, and. here's the before -> after! i don't normally fuck with the background of my shots too much, but i really wanted to up the contrast for this photo. her outfit's very dark and i wanted it to stand out! also, lots of attention to her face. i love making her look pissed off hehe ☺️💖💖

the before photo. there's *MUCH* less contrast- the background isn't foggy/lightened, and highlights/shadows have not been drawn in. her facial features are less defined.

the after photo. it's been cropped and a light fog effect has been added to be background. the contrast has been upped to a significant degree, and highlights and shadows have been added to her face, body, and pants. some light drawing in on her face to give her a much angrier expression.

calling this some kind of leon kennedy fit #gpose | #elezen

a full-body portrait photo of my final fantasy xiv character, Julianne. her bulky frame is dressed in a gray ribbed thin sweater, tight blue high-waisted jeans, black leather tie-up boots, and a long black suede coat swept out behind her by her black draconic tail. her dark, angry visage is pointed towards the viewer's left. her hair is cut short in a curly bob.

*leans deep into the mic* i want her

a screenshot from the most recent Cassette Beasts 2002 trailer, showing a character named Prue. it's pretty overwhelming if you're not used to the particular gameplay genre it falls into, but the fights are good and it's got *really* good visual presentation. i've been having a great time with it! here's my box :3

i made this a few months ago- i'm still not sure if her card design's entirely where i want it to be (payoff feels weird and/or plain), but the way i was able to mush both DRK's Delirium ability and Magic's Delirium templating together brings me a lot of joy!

a custom magic the gathering card for my ffxiv character, Julianne. it reads:

Julianne, Wyrm-Blood Apostate
{3}{R}{G}
Legendary Creature -- Elf Dragon Knight

Vigilance, menance
*Delirium* -- Whenever Julianne enters or deals combat damage to a player, choose one. If there are four or more card types among cards in your graveyard, choose one or more instead.
- Julianne deals 3 damage to each opponent.
- Mill three cards.

incredibly good article, parker fuckin' nails it

a screenshot from the quoted article. it reads

"Nguyen claims in The Score that games are the art form of agency, the same way that music is the art form of listening, or dance is the art form of movement. Games are not “high culture” like cinema or opera, but a participatory democratic form of structured storytelling. Rules, goals, and scoring systems combine to jolt us out of quotidian decisionmaking into a transcendent flow of possibilities that are just at the limit of our reach. A perfectly sequenced combat step. A synergy that nobody else saw coming. A themed Vorthos deck, so that all your friends can see the kind of person you are by how you choose to play. The core appeal of games is that we can be the decision-makers, the agents, who get to choose for ourselves and for none other! This lovely outcome is only possible because games are something we opt into for fun, not something we’re forced into by the structures of political economy.

Gaming is a powerful artistic act because it directly addresses the aimless nihilism at the core of consumerism, at the core of the 2020s’ reactionary social media. Games aren’t the all-or-nothing moral signifiers that moralizing reactionaries make them out to be. But they do matter, because when we play with our decision-making, we practice the kind of creative agency that’s required for real political and social change."
