Yesterday, the head of MI5 warned that far-right, anti-migrant and anti-Muslim extremists are becoming increasingly likely to consider carrying out terror attacks. This should worry us all. 🧵

The framing is important. WE had our freedom of movement taken away from us is perhaps more persuasive.

Yes. Of course. But we’ve got to decide we want in first. No point in doing all that planning and negotiation and then going “nah! Don’t like it.”

There was a total absence of detail in the Brexit plan. Didn’t stop us doing it. So I can’t see why we need details to decide to join the EU.

And, here’s an idea, abolish the single person council tax on properties with 3 or more bedrooms. Those singles in large homes can then avoid the extra cost by downsizing or renting out a room.

Something around criminal justice; there’s been some cases relying on dubious stats. Promoting statistics understanding; so a role in education. Perhaps educating the media. Raising the profile of the service; some public speaking, appearances on tv, radio and podcasts.

Fascinating! The capitalists who benefited from slavery were compensated, not the slaves. While today, the conversation about taking water back under OUR control is also concerned with how to compensate the capitalists who poured shit in our rivers and seas. Plus ca la change.

What this reflects is the growing power of the ultra-rich over every aspect of life. Protest is an affront to the power of wealth. So is any politics to the left of an ever-shifting "centrism". So is independent journalism. So are independent universities. One by one, they must all be shut down.

19800 panels? Not installations? If panels, and average installation is 10, then that’s only about 2000 homes. There’s c. 20,000,000 homes in UK. So, it’s going to take 10,000 months to cover them at this rate. We’ve got to move faster!
