As a child, Sesame Street. As a middle schooler, M*A*S*H*, because I knew nothing of what war was like. In my 20’s…Saving Private Ryan. 30’s Band of Brothers. 40’s I started watching the Discovery Channel & History Channel. Aerial America for Geography, & love David Attenborough’s wildlife shows!

This is terrible news. There is only one outfitter in Grand Marais that will issue permits. Not sure about Ely. But, this is a huge obstacle in visiting the Boundary Waters.

I was wondering if it would remain closed. Biscuit Basin is one of my faves in the park! There’s a trail off the backside to Mystic Falls that we love. Now, we’ll use an alternative route south of the basin to hike to the falls. But, I know this route can close for frequent bear activity. #ParkChat

Yes, I did like that the roof nest gives the ability to leave all your bedding inside. But, either way, it’s quick set up. 👍

We looked at the hard cover Roof Nest. It’s pretty slick. I love how quick and easy it is. And a pretty large area to sleep! I still think it might be in our future. It would be an economical way to travel for a few months at a time after retirement. It would pay for itself quickly. #parkchat

It’s been quite a few years since we used it. I’m sure it has changed and been upgraded. I may try it again in Yellowstone and the surrounding area this summer. It’s definitely the way to go for remote areas! #parkchat

Gaia gps is a good system. It’s really the best for when you are out of range for cell service and it also has route planning. But it’s great to be able to check the weather! It’s definitely great for remote backpacking. #ParkChat
