Insulation relaid. We’ve gone from 80mm to 150mm of insulation as our kitchen floor was lower than rest of house/outside for some reason. Not sure if the increased thickness will make much difference to heat loss, but additional cost was trivial. Next step is the underfloor heating

In the process of replacing gas boiler with a heat pump. A very small step towards the greater good!

Heat pump journey continues. Floors up & first fix done. Now a couple of months (at least) of installing underfloor heating & new floors before the heat pump can be installed

What’s your average export? The battery also allows exports to be pushed into peak times.

£70bn of investment, doesn’t sound like “investment neglected” to me. Sure it should have come sooner, but we had a Tory government. Now Labour are in power the grid is being upgraded. You should be celebrating this. Not spreading misinformation

Ghostbusters taught us that crossing the streams was a very very bad thing to do. However, does uncrossing them, mean a lot of the bad stuff is about to go away? 🤔

No I’m not. Someone mentioned London Overground being run by a privately owned company. I asked them a genuine question.

Though ends with this…. which combined with the headline… reads like a wish for a small state government

Who he also refers to as “small-staters” before going on to repeat the phrase “small state” while talking about cutting the size of the state. Reasonable that most readers will assume he’s talking about “small state” too

A great quote from a wonderful book, The Blue Machine by @helenczerski.bsky.social While the book is discussing Hawaiian fishponds it’s so apt to electricity generation energy. Wind turbines, solar panels, geothermal etc. replicate nature. Fossils fuels dig up and burn nature.

This said, there are some positive trends with adult poverty too. For example, the Trussell Trust is reporting that food bank usage is falling. Again, this clearly doesn’t mean ‘poverty has been ended’ It does mean things are beginning to move in the right direction again

The £36k does have exception though. And those exceptions appear to account for some of the differences you’re concerned about. As per an earlier comment though, unless you propose universal funding for everyone, there will always be cliff edges

That’s a fair point. The £36k threshold does have exceptions though

GBIS was ended because it was not working as expected, with both uptake and delivery falling short of expectations. It is being replaced with a different approach, which will hopefully be more successful

I’ve migrated my account from BlueSky to EuroSky. As a user my account is unchanged, except for the slightly different handle. No loss of followers, posts etc. However my data is now hosted within the EU & governed by EU tech laws, instead of hosted in the US & governed by US tech laws.

They announced they would be reducing net migration and reforming the immigration system. They didn’t announce the precise details of how it would be done in the manifesto. But it is entirely normal that policies are not fully detailed in manifestos 🤷🏻‍♂️

Trussell Trust reporting the number of people using food banks has fallen taken Labour took office. This is very relevant, and suggests there are less people going hungry today, under a Labour government
