How difficult is it to get those really dark shadows in watercolor without turning everything into mud? 😅 This one definitely tested me. I think I pulled it off! #Watercolor #GayArt #FigurativeArt

😍 Ooh, I’d love to capture water like this.

Hmmm… that actually sounds like a fun trade. 🤩 I’m in! We’ll have to figure out the details. 😄

I have a better idea: let me paint you wearing one of them. 😉🎨

One of my favorite things about watercolor is that highlights aren’t always something you paint—they’re something you leave behind. I had to be very careful with the untouched paper on the skin here. ☀️ #watercolor #figurativeart #gayart

These three tiny patches of vegetation were ridiculously fun to paint. 😂 I wish there had been more of them. Maybe that’s something I should listen to… #Watercolor #FigurativeArt #gayart

A little closer… 👀 I love how much intimacy can fit into a tiny corner of a painting. This is probably my favorite part of “Kiss by the Shore.” #art #watercolor #gayart

I was 25 when I posed for a photographer friend and these photographs were taken. I never imagined then that, years later, I would become an artist so interested in the beauty of the male body.

Another one finished. I started this collaboration with @aalto-richie.bsky.social thinking mostly about the figure, but somehow the little bits of vegetation became some of my favorite things to paint. Funny how paintings surprise you. 🌿 #Watercolor #WatercolorPainting #ArtProcess

Kiss by the Shore 🌊 My latest watercolor, painted for an online “Pride” exhibition organized by @erostakles.com . But now that it’s finished, I’m just happy to let it be what it is: two guys, a beach, some sunshine, and a kiss. 💙 #art #watercolor #gayart

Taking a little break from painting people to spend some time with lily pads. 🌿 Watercolor is just as fun when the subject is quiet. I think every sketch teaches me something for the next painting. #Watercolor #Sketchbook #Painting #Art

River Excursion 🛶 I started this painting because of the figure, but I finished it because of the landscape. Painting all those greens reminded me why I fell in love with watercolor. 🌿 #watercolor #watercolorportrait #figurativeart #commissionart #contemporaryart

Thank you! That’s exactly what I enjoy most about the process. I love using the photo as a starting point and then and pushing the color, light, and atmosphere a little further.

Me in the beach photo, and me in watercolor. Along the way I pushed the colors, exaggerated some textures, lowered the horizon line and got rid of a few things that weren’t helping the painting. #watercolor #selfportrait #artprocess #gayart

That’s the eternal watercolor struggle! I’ve found that the sweet spot is somewhere between control and surrender—letting the water surprise you while gently guiding it. Gorgeous work.

A little self-portrait progression: photo, sketch, and final painting. The guy in the reference photo is me, but by the time I get to the watercolor, things have usually taken on a life of their own. #watercolor #artprocess #selfportrait

Working on a fun little side project with my friend @spaceotter2023 as the model 😄 Been drawing a whole sequence of different outfits for him and I’m honestly getting way too excited about it lol. Can you guess what it is? #gayart #procreate #malefigure

A body emerging from shallow water — relaxed, sun-warmed, and quietly exposed. Warm skin against cool sea, with a slow reveal as the waterline drops. Casual, intimate, and confident. #gayart #watercolor #malefigure #contemporaryart
